The Caves & Cliffs update has added a lot of depth to Minecraft, and it has also added a lot more to discover in the farthest regions of the game. Copper is a new ore that has been added to Minecraft that has quite a few uses including being used to craft new tools and building blocks. In the previous update, the Nether update, Mojang added Netherite which could be made by mining Minecraft’s new Ancient Debris. Before copper, this was the game’s newest ore since the addition of Redstone and it also took the place of Diamonds as Minecraft’s new strongest material. Where To Find Copper In Minecraft

Like any other ore, Copper can be found underground starting at Y-level 63 and has the same rarity as Iron Ore. This means players shouldn’t have trouble finding Copper in caves, especially now that the new mega caves have forever changed mining in Minecraft by making ores more common. Players will find the most copper ore between Y-levels 4 and 63, and copper ore will stop spawning altogether after Y-level 0. Like iron, players will need to smelt copper ore blocks to get copper ingots which can be used in crafting recipes.

There are currently three crafting recipes that require copper ingots including copper blocks, lightning rods, and the spyglass. Copper blocks can be used to build with and can be used with the stone cutter to make copper slabs and stairs. Copper blocks will also age as time passes turning more and more turquoise. Players can preserve these states by using beeswax on the blocks. Lightning rods will attract lighting during a thunderstorm which can protect wooden buildings or strike certain mobs. The spyglass is a means for the player to zoom in on faraway locations. This is especially useful for console players who do not have access to Optifine’s zoom mechanic. And that’s just about everything there is to know about copper until Mojang adds any new copper-related items.

Minecraft is available now on PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Android, iOS, Linux, macOS, and Nintendo Switch.
