Mortal Shellis an action role-playing game developed by Cold Symmetry and published by Playstack in which players have to fight to keep their sanity in a broken, dark world. Using powerful weapons, players can hack and slash through opponents and march on to victory. Different items and supplies can be picked up in different areas throughout the world to give players a boost and help them take down terrifying bosses.

Quenching Acid is a supply item that can be found throughout the Mortal Shell game and used to upgrade weapons. Most of the weapons that players can find in Mortal Shell are chipped and damaged. Quenching Acid can be used at Workbenches to increase a weapon’s strength and damage capacity. It can be used on a single item up to five times on the first playthrough, and up to ten times on an item in New Game+. There are 11 Quenching Acids available in the first playthrough of Mortal Shell, but the number of Acids available will increase in subsequent playthroughs.

Quenching Acid Locations in Mortal Shell

Fallgrim

There are four units of Quenching Acid in Fallgrim, in three locations. In Fallgrim, go in the opposite direction from the tower, and go through the tunnel and crawlspace. Follow the path. There is a Quenching Acid hidden in a chest up the hill from where Weltcaps spawn. This chest is located in an enemy camp near the Burning Grisha. A fire is burning and there are many crates, so it should be easy to spot. In the Fog Overworld on the way to Fallgrim Tower, there is a locked chest near the bear traps. The fog must be active to access this chest, and players must have collected at least one Main Boss Gland. Once the chest is unlocked, the player can access the Quenching Acid it holds. In Fallgrim Tower, go up many flights of stairs. Eventually, players will see a large man in an area with tables and items on the left. Vlas the Merchant will sell the player Quenching Acid, for a price. The player can take two Quenching Acids off his hands for 2500 Tar a unit.

In the Shrine of Ash there are two units in two locations. These are both hidden in Iron Maidens. In the Monument of Ash in the room with two claymore enemies just before the flame demon room, there is an iron maiden that holds a Quenching Acid. There is another iron maiden next to it that doesn’t contain anything. Players will need to go through multiple different rooms to reach the next Quenchin Acid. Continue running through this area and follow the circular path. Follow the path to a large room and turn right, then go up the staircase. Turn left. There is another Iron Maiden located in this area in the room with two knights, which is on the shortcut to the final room.

Crypt of Martyrs

There are two locations in the Crypt of Martyrs that hold Quenching Acid. In the Abandoned Chamber, there is a treasure chest guarded by one of the claw beasts. To reach the Abandoned Chamber, take a left in the first room that has many exits, and follow the path. Then, defeat the claw beast and walk away with an extra unit of Quenching Acid. In the Enshrined Sanctum, there is a path leading to the final room. Follow this path and go up the stairs. Enter the crawlspace on the left side to reach a path patrolled by ice ghosts. At the end of the path is a treasure chest that holds the Acid. Take out the enemies to open the chest and collect the Quenching Acid.

Seat of Infinity

There are three Quenching Acids in the Seat of Infinity area. In the Eternal Narthex area, there is a torch on the right side. Walk past the knights with crossbows and follow a long path to reach a rocky overhang. It has the treasure chest and Quenching Acid underneath this overhang. Near the Dim Gate, take the elevator near Sester to the top of the tower, and then take the teleporter to the center platform. Cross the platform and take the teleporter to the other side. Go down the ramp, and then drop down the platforms below until there is another teleporter. Take it to the location with the Quenching Acid. Unless the player has the Recollection of Knowledge ability unlocked, they won’t be able to survive going back to where they started. On the Skybridge that leads to the Shifting Archives, there is a path that will split into three. Take the one that leads below and the Quenching Acid will be waiting at the end of it.

In the New Game+, players can purchase Quenching Acid from Sester Genessa, as well as Vlas. If all of the abilities on at least one Shell and area have been purchased in New Game+, players can access Sester Genessa’s Glimpse shop. She can be found in Fallgrim Tower.  She can sell the player 8 Quenching Acids for 10 Glimpses each. This means that players will have to finish their first playthrough and start another one to gather all of the Quenching Acids and get stronger weapons.
