There are a lot of things for players to do in Red Dead Online. It is a lot of fun to roam the countryside killing and stealing as you wish or joining a group of players to become a team of bounty hunters. Additionally, players can go out exploring and find different kinds of resources and items out in the world. By far some of the most fun to be had in the game though is going hunting.

With the recent Naturalist Role update, players are now able to hunt legendary animals in Red Dead Online. These creatures are typically stronger and deadlier than their normal counterparts, which makes hunting them down a lot more challenging. One of the deadliest of these legendary animals though is the Sapa Cougar. This guide will show players where to find it and how to bring it down.

Red Dead Online: Hunting the Legendary Sapa Cougar

In order to begin hunting this animal, players will need to first level up their naturalist role to level 5. This can be done by cataloging or hunting animals out in the wild. After this is done players can return to Harriet and see what missions she has available. Players will be able to pick up a quest from her to go hunting for the Sapa Cougar.

Luckily this mission is more structured than most hunts, so players will be given a marker for a general area to search for the Sapa Cougar. Players will have to search around until they find a camp of poachers out in the wild. Players will then need to kill all of these poachers and then look around until they find a trail leading to the cougar. While following this trail players will most likely come across more poachers out in the wild that they will want to kill before taking on the Sapa Cougar.

Once players find the Cougar they will need to be incredibly careful if they want to bring it down. It will be able to kill a player in just a couple of attacks so shooting at it from a distance with a high powered rifle is a good idea. If it manages to get in close though players will want to try to find some kind of high ground nearby, so that it can’t reach them. After a lot of shooting players will be able to bring the cougar down and get a ton of experience for their trouble.
