Where to Find the Shipwreck in GTA Online

For a game that was released nearly a decade ago, Grand Theft Auto Onlineis showing no signs of slowing down, and the most recent update gives players a new quest – a search for shipwrecks. The new treasure hunt has players running all along the coast of Los Santos and Blaine County in pursuit of 30 shipwrecks and their chests that have washed ashore.

As part of the weekly update on August 26, the shipwrecks hunt comes off the heels of the GTA Online Los Santos Tuners update. As they each contain $20,000 and 2,000 RP, along with clothing scraps that can be combined for a collectible outfit, finding the shipwrecks is well worth the search. There is a catch, though: only one shipwreck spawns on the map in a 24-hour period, and that location is completely random.

The shipwrecks in GTA Online are spread out all across the map. Unlike the search for Solomon’s movie props, the shipwrecks are not available to hunt down one after the other. Since their spawn location changes daily with no way of knowing which spot will be next, there is no perfect method to use when searching. However, since these are boats washed ashore, players can limit the search to the coastline of the ocean and major rivers.

How to Search for the Shipwreck Spawn Location in GTA Online

One way to expedite the search process for shipwrecks in GTA Online is to hop in a boat a cruise around Los Santos and Blaine County, keeping a close eye on the shore. Spotting the shipwrecks can be tricky since they blend in with the rocks and the sand. If players prefer a bird’s eye view, they can use an Oppressor Mk II or helicopter to navigate the map. After collecting the first seven chests from the shipwrecks, players will receive the Frontier Outfit. For the remainder of the chests, players still receive the $20,000 along with the RP, so there is no need to cut the hunt short. The extra cash is great for players who are looking to get their hands on the new vehicles released for the Los Santos Tuners update.

The Shipwreck update offers a month’s worth of adventure in GTA Online on top of all the other content released this past summer. With a $600,000 total payout after finding all 30 wrecks, not to mention the fun of the treasure hunt, the Shipwreck update gives players a great incentive to keep returning to GTA Online every day.
