Warning! SPOILERS for Turning Red.

Like previous Pixar movies, Turning Red also includes an Easter egg appearance of Pixar’s Pizza Planet truck – here’s where to spot it. Turning Red was released exclusively on Disney+ on March 11, becoming the third Pixar film to be released only on the streaming platform after Soul and Luca. Turning Red follows 13-year-old Meilin “Mei” Lee (Rosalie Chiang) and her life as a straight-A student, a fan of boyband 4*Town (alongside her friends Miriam, Priya, and Abby), and a great helper to her mother Ming (Sandra Oh) at the temple they run in Toronto. Mei’s life changes unexpectedly following a fight with her mom when she realizes that if she experiences strong feelings, she’ll transform into a red panda.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Pixar’s Pizza Planet truck is located in all Disney Pixar movies except for The Incredibles, going as far as taking the form of a three-wheeled retro Piaggio Ape in Luca. The truck first appeared in Pixar’s first movie, Toy Story, in 1995, where it proved to be a means of transportation for Woody and Buzz Lightyear. In Toy Story 2, the Pizza Planet truck also was important to the story, as Buzz, Mr. Potato Head, Slink, Hamm, and Rex used it to follow a captive Woody to rescue him.

While not as central as in Toy Story and Toy Story 2, Pizza Planet truck Easter egg makes a notable appearance in Turning Red, as it does with most Pixar movies. In a key moment when Mei realizes that she doesn’t want to banish her red panda form, she leaves the ritual and runs through Toronto to reach SkyDome, where 4*Town are performing, repeatedly switching between her panda and human form. Turning Red shows the Pizza Planet truck Easter egg during Mei’s run towards SkyDome – located exactly one hour, 11 minutes, and 22 seconds into the movie.

The Pizza Planet truck became one of Pixar’s more constant Easter eggs, and while it only makes a brief appearance in Turning Red, it pops up in a moment that is just as fundamental to Mei’s story. As Mei finally decides to listen to her gut and embrace her panda form, she realizes that her wishes are important too, as she finally acts on them and goes to the concert she wants to attend with her friends. While Pixar’s Pizza Planet truck is only one of the many vehicles she needs to avoid or passes by on her run, it’s unmissable.

Turning Red director Domee Shi confirmed that not only Pixar’s most common Easter eggs are present in the film, such as the truck, A113, and the Luxo Ball, but that it also includes an Easter egg of Pixar’s upcoming movie Lightyear. Pixar’s tradition of teasing the next movie release was also upheld by Luca, which showed a label in a bookshelf behind the titular character that said “4*Villaggi,” mirroring Turning Red’s Mei’s 4*Town pin – albeit in Italian. The Pizza Planet truck may be the most obvious Easter egg Turning Red weaves into the story, upholding Pixar’s long-beloved Easter egg tradition.
