The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been passed around streaming platforms frequently over the last 10+ years, but it seems the movies are starting to become centralized with the launch of Disney+ worldwide. Not all 23 movies are easy to stream, however.

Here’s how to stream each movie on subscription-based platforms, and in chronological order. While this isn’t the release order, it’s one of the best ways to watch them, as it reveals any spoilers in order, fills in some blanks, and just makes sense! (Of course, if you want to go for release order, that’s an option too…)

23 Captain America: The First Avenger

This takes place during the events of The Second World War and is the earliest of the MCU films, chronologically speaking. It introduces us to characters like Agent Carter and Red Skull as well as featuring the first sighting of an infinity stone.

You can find Captain America: The First Avenger streaming now on Prime Video & Disney+

22 Captain Marvel

Set in 1995, Captain Marvel is littered with pop culture references and de-aging technology on Samuel L. Jackson that makes you feel like you are watching a ’90s classic. The Tesseract infinity stone makes another appearance in this film, and we get to see just how powerful Captain Marvel can be.

21 Iron Man

This film actually takes place around 2010, but is the first film that Marvel released into the MCU, and is undoubtedly one of the best. The soundtrack is awesome too, with AC/DC hits littered throughout the film.

Iron Man is available to stream on Disney+.

20 Iron Man 2

The first film was so good, they made another one soon after, and the events of the second Iron Man directly follow on from the first. Although they changed the actor who played War Machine, it didn’t really make that much of a difference because most of the time War Machine was in a metal suit anyway.

The second Iron Man movie is available to stream on Prime Video & Disney+

19 The Incredible Hulk

Many people choose to ignore this movie when watching the MCU, simply because they changed the actor for Hulk after this movie and it really doesn’t have any references in it to the overall story arc of ‘The Infinity Saga’ apart from a small Nick Fury cameo in the post-credits scene.

The movie is not actually available to stream on subscription-based platforms, however, you can rent it on Amazon/YouTube/Google Play/Apple Store for around $3.99.

18 Thor

The final movie before delving into The Avengers is really a case of adding the final piece to the puzzle and adding Thor to the Avengers party before the chaos of 2012 is unleashed. As well as introducing some big-name actors like Natalie Portman and Tom Hiddleston, Thor is one of the first films to be released into the MCU that included cross-world battles.

Thor is available to stream on Prime Video & Disney+

17 The Avengers

This film takes place in 2012 and is the first time all the heroes are featured on screen at once. The world went wild for this film at the time, smashing Marvel’s box office records and giving some justification to the need for this expansive cinematic universe.

16 Iron Man 3

Iron Man 3 takes place a few months after the events of The Avengers and shows how Tony Stark dealt with post-traumatic stress after he was sent into space to save the world.

15 Thor: Dark World

Thor moved off-world after The Avengers, and encountered another infinity stone in the Aether. The scenes in this film would later be crucial to saving the universe in Avengers: Endgame. The movie faced a lot of criticism at the time, however, it should still never be overlooked if you want to understand the origin of another infinity stone.

The second Thor movie is available to stream on Disney+

14 Captain America: Winter Soldier

One of the best-directed films in the whole MCU, Winter Soldier is more of an espionage style film and Black Widow comes into her own in this movie. There is an iconic scene in this movie where Cap fights off a dozen corrupt agents inside an elevator, a scene that would make a return in a later movie.

13 Guardians Of The Galaxy

Guardians of the Galaxy expands the MCU in a cosmic adventure that includes lots of gags and a nostalgic soundtrack. The movie features a star-studded cast with names like Bradley Cooper and Chris Pratt playing some of the gang, these characters are regarded as some of the funnier ones in the MCU.

The first Guardians installment is available on Disney+

12 Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2

The second volume follows on from the first, and explores Peter Quill’s celestial father Ego. The soundtrack is slightly closer to modern-day but is still filled with ’80s classics. The visuals in this movie are stunning, like most of the cosmic MCU movies.

Guardians 2 is available to stream on Disney+

11 Avengers: Age Of Ultron

The second hero mash-up takes place in 2015 and introduces even more characters to the MCU like Vision and Wanda Maxmioff. There are some crazy battles and some real hints at the future of the MCU with a hallucination scene that sees some of the heroes deceased.

The second Avengers is available to stream on Disney+

10 Ant-Man

Ant-Man is a more light-hearted movie, and has some amazing Paul Rudd scenes. The film doesn’t take itself too seriously, and Disney was praised for this as a way to make its many, many superhero movies stand apart.

Ant-Man is available to stream on Disney+

9 Captain America: Civil War

Civil War is more of an Avengers film than it is a Captain America film, and introduces one of Marvel’s prize assets in Spider-Man.

4 Avengers: Infinity War

The most chaotic Marvel movie to date, the battle scenes in this movie are incredible, and the cross-over of characters is done exceptionally. The film also ends on a harrowing cliff-hanger that would shake the world and introduces us to the mad titan Thanos.

Infinity War is available to stream on Netflix.

3 Ant-Man And The Wasp

Set during the events of Infinity War, this movie is more of a light-hearted break from the trauma that Infinity War gave people. It’s a great watch, and doesn’t shy away from the overall Infinity Saga story with its post-credits scene.

The second Ant-Man movie is available to stream now on Netflix.

2 Avengers: Endgame

Technically this film starts in 2017, after the events of Infinity War, however, the movie skips 5 years into the future and ends in 2022. Endgame is an excellent culmination of 22 movies and managed to claim the box office all-time top spot, grossing over $2bn worldwide.

1 Spider-Man: Far From Home

Set in the aftermath of Endgame, this Spider-Man movie is essential for Endgame closure, and is more of a tribute to Iron Man than anything else. The movie also has two of the craziest post-credit scenes in the whole MCU.
