Jared Leto recently stepped behind the camera with A Day In The Life Of America, but where can the documentary be watched online? Actor and musician Jared Leto has come a long way since his mid-1990s breakout role as baby-faced rebel without a cause Jordan Catalano on teen drama My So-Called Life. Following critically acclaimed turns in Prefontaine and Requiem For A Dream, Leto earned his first Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor playing transwoman Rayon in the 2013 film Dallas Buyers Club and more recently took on the iconic role of the Joker in the DCEU.

Alongside his acting endeavors, Leto is also the frontman of rock band Thirty Seconds to Mars. It’s a role that has seen Leto venture behind the camera several times, directing a number of the band’s music videos and helming the 2012 documentary Artifact (about the band’s legal disputes with record label EMI) and the docuseries Into The Wild, which charts the group’s 2010 tour of the same name. Leto’s latest directorial outing A Day In The Life Of America is another Thirty Seconds to Mars-related effort and acts as a companion piece to the band’s 2018 album America.

Inspired by author David Elliot Cohen’s A Day In The Life photography book series, the documentary premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2019 to critical acclaim. It’s an ambitious project that saw Jared Leto send 92 film crews to each of the United States where they shot footage over the course of a 24-hour period on Independence Day in 2017. The result is a single-day snapshot that explores every colorful corner of the country – from the good and the bad to the downright ugly. A Day In The Life Of America was first broadcast on PBS in early 2021 as part of the network’s Independent Lens series, but how can documentary fans watch it online?

Unfortunately, A Day In The Life Of America can’t be found on any of the major streaming services like Netflix, Hulu or Prime. However, the doc is available to watch on the PBS Independent Lens website and via the PBS Video App. According to PBS, A Day In The Life Of America will be available to watch up until January 2023.

A Day In The Life Of America certainly proved Jared Leto’s talents as a director, and if recent rumors hold true the actor may helm a scripted feature in the not-too-distant future. A few years ago, it was reported he would direct a crime thriller titled 77 focusing on the infamous kidnapping of Patty Hearst and based on an original screenplay by L.A. Confidential author James Ellroy. Alongside that, Leto will also soon star in Darren Aronofsky’s upcoming horror Adrift, Ridley Scott’s crime biopic House Of Gucci and Sony Pictures’ adaptation of Marvel’s Morbius.
