Where You’ve Heard Dying Light 2 Voice Actor Rosario Dawson Before

Players enjoying Techland’s Dying Light 2: Stay Human may recognize the familiar voice of Rosario Dawson as Lawan, a key NPC in the Dying Light 2 story who’s appeared in trailers and ads for the game since it was announced. Dawson provided voice and motion capture for her character, who plays a major role in the game’s plot and grows close with Aiden, the protagonist and player character. Over the course of the game’s story, players will come to know Lawan well – she’s quite up front about her past – and she’s closely tied to the main events of the game.

Rosario Dawson herself has been acting in film since 1995, featuring in comedies, dramas, and thrillers. She has been nominated for over 30 film and media awards, of which she’s won several, including a Satellite Award in 2006 for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture. While her career started primarily in feature films, in the past decade she has shifted to adaptations of comic books and similar roles, and an upcoming Star Wars project will continue this trend.

As such, fans likely won’t be surprised to learn that Lawan from Dying Light 2 isn’t Rosario Dawson’s first role in video games games – she’s previously had roles as major supporting character in a handful of games, and has even voiced a protagonist in a AAA title. Dying Light 2’s Rosario Dawson Is In Dishonored, Marvel, & Star Wars Media

Wonder Woman, DC Animated Universe

While the live-action Diana Prince is portrayed by Gal Gadot, Rosario Dawson has voiced the superhero in several animated DC films since 2015, and could possibly play her in the upcoming Wonder Woman video game. These direct-to-video movies place her alongside the familiar ensemble of the Justice League, though she does get her own film with Wonder Woman: Bloodlines. She even has a surprising cameo in 2021’s Space Jam: A New Legacy.

Meagan Foster, Dishonored 2 & Dishonored: Death of the Outsider

While Dawson has played parts in a handful of other video games, her biggest role in games prior to Dying Light 2 was in 2016’s Dishonored 2. Meagan Foster is initially the player’s only ally, providing transit and a safe haven between the game’s levels, and a source of emotional tension as her past comes to light. Dawson reprised the role the following year in Arkane’s Dishonored: Death of the Outsider, where Meagan takes center-stage as the primary protagonist.

Ahsoka Tano, Disney+ Star Wars Series

Originating in the beloved series Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Ahsoka has been present in animated Star Wars content for quite some time. An episode of the Emmy-nominated series The Mandalorian marks Ahsoka’s live-action debut, where she is played by Rosario Dawson. She appears again in the sixth episode of The Book of Boba Fett, and a full series centered around Ahsoka – starring Dawson, of course – was announced back in 2020.

Claire Temple, Netflix Marvel Series

Marvel’s live-action Netflix series, set in New York City in the years following the events of 2012’s The Avengers, feature several recurring characters across six different shows. Dawson plays nurse Claire Temple, first appearing in 2015’s Daredevil and playing a mix of major and minor roles across the majority of Netflix’s Marvel shows. Claire patches up and eventually fights alongside each show’s titular protagonists until her final appearance in The Defenders in 2017. Whether she could reprise the role (or take on a new one) in any upcoming Marvel video games in development is unknown, but given the strength of her recent role as Lawan in Dying Light 2, gamers may well start seeing more performances from her in games media.
