Which new season is going to better: Real Housewives of New York or Real Housewives of Beverly Hills? It is a close race but there only can be one winner.

The Real Housewives franchise has been a hit with viewers at home since its inception back in 2006. Since that fateful year’s housewives have come and gone but the drama has remained. Currently, fans are being spoiled with the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and The Real Housewives of New York airing at the same time. Both franchises offer a mass amount of drama and keep viewers coming back each week. The confident women of The Big Apple are followed by Bravo cameras during their ups and downs, always providing comic relief of a heavy dose of drama. While the California ladies are more than happy talking trash over champagne and ice sculptures.

But which spin-off is having the better season? Both have cast new blood, but fans are having an easier time bonding with Leah McSweeney of New York. McSweeney is literally the perfect replacement for Bethenny Frankel who announced she was leaving the show in the winter. The new kid on the block wasted no time in making her presence known to the other woman and has proved that she can hold her own in the group of opinionated women. The two newbies of Beverly Hills still have the jury out. Sutton Stracke was supposed to be a full-time housewife, but had to be demoted at the last minute because her ex-husband did not sign off on their children being filmed. Stracke also comes across as rude but tries to blame her southern upbringing. Garcelle Beauvais is making waves, but they may not be big enough to keep on her for another season.

Most of the housewives on any one of the franchises have intense meltdowns. But between the two, the winner thus far would have to be the ladies of the Big Apple. Between McSweeney’s tiki torch javelin throwing tantrum to her Newport meltdown there is no comparing her high-strung emotions to any other. Dorinda Medley is coming in a close second. Fans have been watching her not handle her emotions well since her Great Barrington home flooded and she properly mourns her late husband. The only meltdown that has happened thus far on Beverly Hills is Kyle Richards storming off from a party, crying, which is par for the course with her.

The women of New York are overall more enjoyable to watch. East coast women just come across more well-rounded and down to earth. The women of the famed zip code sometimes come across shallow and vapid with little to do but shop and decorate their mansions. For right now the better season would have to go to The Real Housewives of New York City.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills airs Wednesdays at 9pm EST on Bravo.
