The one ingredient no superhero film can do without are its characters – both heroes and villains. Superhero films need a strong leading hero (or a group of heroes), but also a villain the superhero could fight against. Wonder Woman 1984 is no exception to this rule. It puts Wonder Woman against not one, but two major villains, and she’ll have a lot to do if she’s to succeed.

The film works with multiple characters and it gives a lot of space not just to Diana herself. As a result, the characters are all different, behave in different ways, and their MBTI® personality types vary as well.

10 Asteria: ESFJ (The Caregiver)

Not much is known about Asteria’s character since she only appears briefly in the film. However, her actions speak volumes, and they make Asteria an ESFJ. ESFJs are kind and loyal people who enjoy helping others. Asteria sacrificed and was the one who gave the Amazons enough time to escape to Themyscira and hide from their enemies, the men. Asteria’s cameo in the post-credit scene then shows she lives hidden among humans, and she continues helping people and enjoys it, as she saves a baby and its mother.

9 Simon Stagg: ISTJ (The Inspector)

Simon Stagg got what he deserved – but he still has some positive traits that are typical for ISTJs. This personality type is logical and practical, organized, but also judgmental and likes to blame others. Stagg insults Maxwell Lord in front of his son and doesn’t take Alistair’s feelings into consideration. On the other hand, he seems like he does a good enough job of leading his company – until the truth about his fraud comes out, courtesy of Maxwell Lord.

8 Alistair: INFJ (The Advocate)

Alistair is still a child in the film and his personality will no doubt evolve in the future as he grows older. But for now, it looks like Alistair might be an INFJ. INFJs are soft-spoken people who value close, deep relationships. Alistair seems close to his dad and he wants nothing more than to spend time with Maxwell – even though Maxwell seems busy and pushes his son aside. INFJs are sensitive to the needs of others, and Alistair demonstrates this trait when he uses his one wish to help his dad.

7 Hippolyta: ENTJ (The Commander)

Diana’s mother Hippolyta appears only briefly in Wonder Woman 1984 but she still demonstrates her leadership skills. As queen of the Amazons, Hippolyta has strong leadership skills.

She’s led her people for many centuries and they continue to prosper. ENTJs are assertive and outspoken – Hippolyta has no trouble getting her way like she did when she had Diana, the only child on Themyscira.

6 Antiope: ISFP (The Artist)

Despite the name of this MBTI® type, people who are ISFPs don’t necessarily have to be artists. The name symbolizes the fact that ISFPs are highly observant, always aware of the environment around them. Antiope is one of the best warriors on Themyscira, and as such, she has to be able to stay wary and observe her surroundings for any potential threat. ISFPs are practical and enjoy hands-on-hands learning. Antiope serves as a mentor to Diana and isn’t afraid to call her out, point out Diana’s mistakes.

5 Young Diana: INTP (The Thinker)

Young Diana appears only briefly in the film’s beginning when she competes against much older Amazonians. Despite the briefness of the sequence, it’s possible to assume she’s an INTP. People with this personality type are independent, logical, and affectionate with their loved ones but they struggle to follow rules. Diana comes up with a way how to beat the Amazons, using her brain in the process, even though it means cheating. She’s building her own path and even though she cares about other people’s opinions, she usually doesn’t let them stop her.

4 Barbara Minerva: INFP (The Mediator)

Before she loses her optimism and kindness and becomes Cheetah, Barbara Minerva is an INFP. INFPs are caring and interested in other people. Barbara warms up to Diana soon after she meets her, and the same happens with Maxwell Lord.

INFPs can be overly idealistic which allows other people to take advantage of them if they’re not careful enough. Maxwell Lord gets closer to Barbara only to steal the Dreamstone, and she lets him ‘borrow’ it because she believes he has good intentions.

3 Maxwell Lord: ESTP (The Persuader)

Even though Maxwell Lord gained real power only after he had used the Dreamstone, he was persuasive long beforehand. He managed to convince Simon Stagg and others to give him financing for his enterprise. ESTPs are influential, adaptable, and resourceful individuals. When something didn’t work, Maxwell found a different way how to achieve his goals. Finally, he had a lot of extra energy, which is another trait typical of this MBTI® type.

2 Steve Trevor: ENFJ (The Giver)

No other MBTI® type fits Steve Trevor as well as ENFJ. ENFJs are outgoing and warm-hearted. They have a wide social circle, are encouraging and empathetic, but have the tendency to be self-sacrificing as well. Steve once again sacrifices his life when he attunes to Diana’s feelings and convinces her saving the world and her life is more important. Steve is a bit unsure when he wakes up in the 1980s but he quickly starts enjoying the strange new world, once again showing his outgoing nature.

1 Wonder Woman: ENFP (The Champion)

Wonder Woman is both the champion of the Amazons – and the protector of humanity, so this MBTI® type fits her well. ENFPs are warm, empathetic, and caring people who have strong people skills. Diana mostly keeps her distance from others but once she allows herself to get to know them, she makes friends easily. She cares about the people she saves, takes the time to cheer up children, and is, generally, a hero – even though she has a few weak moments, just like everybody else.
