Rap star Quavo has confirmed his interest in playing the character of Sidney Deane in the upcoming White Men Can’t Jump remake; a role played by Wesley Snipes in the 1992 movie. The original film, which saw Snipes’ Deane team up with Woody Harrelson’s Billy Hoyle, and set aside their on-court rivalry to hustle other guys, became a sleeper hit upon release, grossing more than $90 million against a budget of $31 million. And in January 2017, producer Kenya Barris confirmed he was developing a remake of the movie, with NBA star Blake Griffin and former NFL center Ryan Kalil.

Migos frontman Quavo, whose real name is Quavious Keyate Marshall, revealed in an interview that he is interested in becoming involved in the remake and has publicly expressed interest in taking the role of Deane. Speaking with TMZ, the 30-year-old said that he was dead serious about being cast in the reboot and had no doubt about the role he felt was for him, saying, “I think they need to call me, so me and Jack Harlow can do it. I need to play Wesley Snipes’ role.

Not too much is known about the details of the reboot yet, but House Party reboot director Calmatic is set to helm, while rapper Jack Harlow is the sole casting announcement so far, with the 24-year-old set to make his acting debut in the film. Whether Quavo will join his friend on-screen is unclear as of yet, but he is no stranger to a basketball court, winning the MVP Award during the 2018 NBA All-Star Celebrity Game. His on-court experience will serve him well should he win the role in White Men Can’t Jump and would likely work in his favor in terms of pursuing the part, but right now, fans will have to wait a while longer for any further casting news to be released.
