MMA fighter Conor McGregor is well known for his championship wins and controversial out-of-ring behavior, but he’s also appeared in other spheres, including as a video game character in a Call of Duty campaign. With a new game coming out every year and celebrities split between campaigns and zombie-infested bonus modes, finding a certain celebrity’s guest spot in a particular Call of Duty game can be a tall order. Thankfully, McGregor’s appearance in the COD franchise is a fairly recent inclusion – and one that’s pretty hard to miss.

Activision now has a long legacy of including celebrities as characters in the Call of Duty franchise, both in serious and comedic roles. Treyarch’s long-running COD Zombies mode regularly features popular figures like Danny Trejo and Michael Rooker as over-the-top personas. Meanwhile, there’s generally a central celebrity or actor that headlines each year’s Call of Duty campaign as a new character. Whether it’s Gary Oldman’s villainous turn in the early stages of the Black Ops series or Idris Elba’s appearance in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, there are few campaigns in the series that go without at least one famous face.

McGregor shows up in the campaign for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. A divisive entry in the series, Infinite Warfare took things too far into the future, in the eyes of many fans. Instead of space travel and robots, players wanted a “boots on the ground” style, and Activision has delivered that ever since Infinite Warfare in 2016. This makes McGregor’s appearance even more missable, as many players simply skipped over this futuristic entry and waited for a game more suited to their tastes.

Who Does Conor McGregor Play In Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare?

Players meet up with McGregor’s Bradley Fillion in the first and third missions of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare‘s campaign. He serves as the military muscle for Salen Kotch, the game’s main antagonist, who is played by Game of Thrones actor Kit Harington. His role is brief, which could explain why some fans of the fighter may not be aware he made an appearance in Call of Duty at all. Even so, his main appearance at the end of the first mission serves to set off the entire campaign, leaving a memorable mark on those who played Infinite Warfare.

With McGregor’s resurgence in the world of MMA, it’s entirely possible Activision could bring him in for a role in another Call of Duty game in the future, perhaps as an ancestor of his character in COD: Infinite Warfare. While fans continue to rank Infinite Warfare low due to its futuristic locale, McGregor himself posed a serious threat to players in the early missions of what is definitely an underrated campaign. For now, the fighter continues to appear in EA’s UFC video game series, including the most recent entry in 2020.
