Who Died In Crisis On Infinite Earths Part 2

Warning: SPOILERS for Crisis On Infinite Earths Part 2.

Here’s who died in the Arrowverse‘s Crisis On Infinite Earths Part 2. Batwoman picks up the next chapter of Crisis as the superheroes are reeling from the death of Green Arrow (Stephen Amell) and the destruction of Earth-38, the home of Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and Superman (Tyler Hoechlin). In addition, Crisis kicked off with billions of deaths as four other Earths were annihilated: Earth-89 (the home of Michael Keaton’s Batman), Earth-9 (where DC Universe’s Titans lived), the Nazi-controlled Earth-X, and Earth-66 (where Adam West’s Batman and Burt Ward’s Robin fought crime). Along with Earth-2, which was destroyed in Arrow season 8, that means the Multiverse has officially lost 6 Earths to the Anti-Monitor’s (LaMonica Garrett) antimatter wave.

After the Arrowverse’s heroes retreated to the temporary safety of Earth-1, the Monitor sent them on missions to recruit new heroes to the cause called Paragons. Batwoman (Ruby Rose) and Supergirl went to the Gotham City of Earth-99 and sought out Bruce Wayne (Kevin Conroy), who was believed to be the Paragon of Courage. Simultaneously, Iris West-Allen (Candice Patton), Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch), and Superman traveled to the Metropolis of Earth-96 to find the Paragon of Truth, who turned out to be a different Man of Steel, the Kingdom Come Superman (Brandon Routh) – but not before a quick detour to Earth-167 to meet Smallville’s Clark Kent (Tom Welling). Meanwhile, Lex Luthor (Jon Cryer) returned after the Monitor resurrected him at the end of Supergirl season 4 but he immediately went rogue, stole the Book of Destiny, and jumped around the Multiverse killing Supermen – though it’s not clear how many Men of Steel Lex murdered. Finally, Mia Smoak (Kat McNamara), Sara Lance (Caity Lotz), Barry Allen (Grant Gustin), and John Constantine (Matt Ryan) sought to resurrect Oliver Queen using a Lazarus Pit on Earth-18 but despite the Pit restoring Green Arrow physically, they were unable to restore his soul.

In the backdrop of the superheroes’ Multiversal missions, more Earths continued to be destroyed by the antimatter wave as the Anti-Monitor revealed himself and recruited Harbinger (Audrey Anderson) to his side. But it wouldn’t be Crisis without major deaths and Part 2 saw different versions of DC Comics’ greatest heroes die:

The Superman of Earth-75 was the only Man of Steel confirmed killed by Lex Luthor, though the bald supervillain claimed he murdered others. Earth-38’s Superman and Lois went to Earth-75 to see if that world’s Kryptonian was the Paragon of Truth they were looking for and they saw the news broadcast of that world’s Man of Steel dead by Luthor’s hand, with Lois mourning him as his torn cape billowed in the background. Thankfully, on Earth-167, Lex didn’t kill Smallville‘s Clark Kent when he found out Clark gave up his powers to live a normal life on the Kent Farm with Lois Lane (Erica Durance) and his family.

The Batman of Earth-99 (Kevin Conroy) also died when he tried to kill Supergirl and Batwoman. Kate Kane and Kara Zor-El believed Earth-99’s Dark Knight, who is confined to a robotic exoskeleton and aided by his world’s Luke Fox (Camrus Johnson), was the Paragon of Courage. However, Earth-99’s Batman revealed himself to a twisted murderer who not only executed his arch enemies but also his world’s Superman, while spouting ominous dialogue from The Dark Knight Returns verbatim. When Earth-99’s Batman tried to murder Supergirl with Kryptonite, he got electrocuted, which short-circuited his suit and killed him. Batwoman later realized that she was the Paragon of Courage.

But with the Anti-Monitor growing stronger as each Earth he destroys not only empowers him but weakens his counterpart, the Monitor, the body count is sure to escalate even further in Crisis On Infinite Earths Part 3.
