Who Killed Sara wrapped its second season with an explosive finale, literally. Season two added even more drama, scandal, secrets, and lies, enhancing the show’s central themes. Characters met, their motives became apparent, and audiences said goodbye to a couple of players who met tragic and, at times, deserved endings.

Season three is all but confirmed, leaving fans around the world to wonder what will happen next because even though season two provided many answers to some of the show’s biggest questions, more mysteries and doubts emerged in the past eight episodes. And with some characters left to an uncertain fate, things are bound to get even more twisted in season three.

10 Answered: The Dead Body In Alex’s Garden

Season 1 ended with the shocking reveal of a dead body buried in Alex’s garden. Season 2 wastes no time and immediately jumps into the mystery, slowly revealing the truth about the man’s identity.

Viewers eventually learn that the man is Abel Martínez, Sara’s biological father, who’s also father to Marifer and, surprisingly, Clara. Furthermore, the brief scene of César shooting at someone in Alex’s garden refers to his killing of Abel, who was attacking Sara. The mystery didn’t get unnecessarily dragged out, and it was great that the show answered such a big question in the season’s eight episodes.

9 Pending: Chema’s Life In Prison

No one had it worse during season 2 than poor Chema Lazcano. His separation from Lorenzo leaves him broken-hearted, making him a sitting duck for Clara’s manipulations. He also struggles still with his unresolved and unrequited feelings for Alex.

Things take a turn for the worse when Moncho’s brother kills Lorenzo, and Clara unexpectedly dies (more on that later). Devastated, Chema not only confesses to killing Moncho but also the man in Alex’s garden. He believes he’s repaying Alex by taking the blame while also atoning for his past mistakes. It’s an extreme and reckless action that proves Chema isn’t the smartest Lazcano in the family.

8 Answered: Moncho’s Fate

Season 1 hinted that Moncho, Clara’s ex-boyfriend, would play a prominent role in season 2 as an antagonist to Chema and Lorenzo. His part in the plot ends up being smaller than anticipated, but he still plays a pivotal role. After irrupting into Chema and Lorenzo’s house, he attacks the latter and gets stabbed by the former, dying on the spot.

Moncho’s death changes things drastically for Chema and Lorenzo, who spend most of the season trying to cover up the murder. It’s all for naught, though, as Moncho’s vengeful brother kills Lorenzo in front of Chema.

7 Pending: The Lazcano Family’s Future

The Lazcano family is practically over by the end of season 2. Chema is in jail, and Mariana is all alone in her house, having lost both babies she wanted to keep for herself. Rodolfo seems to be slowly morphing into his father, to the point where he even adopts a Spaniard accent.

Elisa also briefly loses her grip and burns her father’s casino, putting her life and Alex’s at grave risk. César is seemingly dead, although it was all a ruse to evade justice. Indeed, out of everyone in his family, he’s the only one who’s having a good time, literally. With the family scattered and divided, season 3 will have to deal with the fallout of their choices.

6 Answered: Sergio’s Punishment

Sergio was César’s perverse and ruthless business associate who hid a terrible secret. He was a sadist who killed more than one woman and taped himself as he did it. Season 1 sets him up as a major villain for season 2, and he lives up to the expectations.

Both he and César betray each other, and Sergio goes to jail for six months. He eventually escapes and kidnaps and tortures Elisa as punishment for her father’s actions. César and Alex team up to take Sergio down, leading to a climactic showdown between the two former partners. In the end, César shoots Sergio right between the eyes, killing his former friend.

5 Pending: Marifer’s Ultimate Fate

One of season 1’s most latent questions was the identity of the mysterious Diana the Huntress. The final episode revealed it was Marifer, Sara’s former friend. Season 2 explores Marifer’s motives more deeply, and audiences learn she blames the Lazcanos for the disappearance of Cristina, her mother.

Marifer also sent Clara to get pregnant with Chema’s baby to blackmail Mariana into revealing what happened to Cristina. However, Marifer learns a series of devastating truths, including that Sara was her sister and that her own father killed Cristina. After accidentally killing Clara, she suffers a mental breakdown and follows Alex to César’s casino, which Elisa set on fire. She seemingly perishes in the fire, but in a show as intense as this one, no one ever really stays dead.

4 Answered: Marifer & Sara’s Falling Out

Marifer and Sara used to be friends, but season 2 reveals things were worse than fans thought. Sara was verbally, and at times, physically abusive to Marifer. Things worsen between the two after Sara learns that they’re half-sisters. She drifts away from Marifer, leaving her alone and confused.

The falling out between the two former friends is arguably the most relevant event in the show’s past storyline. It explains Sara’s sudden change of behavior and growing paranoid instincts. More importantly, it explains why Marifer became increasingly desperate, leading to her cutting the parasail’s ropes and making her seemingly guilty of Sara’s death.

3 Pending: The Truth About Dr. Alanis

Veteran Spanish-Mexican actor Daniel Giménez Cacho joined season 2 for a brief stint as Sara’s former psychiatrist. Alex met with him, and the two discussed Sara’s condition. The doctor also revealed several of Alex’s mother’s secrets, with his scenes serving as insights into the secretive Guzmán family.

The season ended with the shocking revelation that Alanis and Nicandro were working together. The doctor lied or at least withheld information from Alex. The show also reveals that Nicandro and his family apparently manipulated Sara’s diagnosis with the doctor’s help. It’s unclear how much of what Alanis said is true, if anything. His role in the story also remains vague, as does his nature. Is he evil, or is he just being manipulated?

2 Answered: Nicandro’s Connection To Sara

And speaking of Nicandro, the character becomes more prominent in season 2, as many fans thought he would. Audiences learn that he was a spoiled and rude drug dealer who lent Sara money, which she used to help Abel escape from the mental institution. After she failed to pay him back, he became more insistent and aggressive. Sara crosses a line when she tampers with Nicandro’s bike and causes him to have an accident.

In the present, Nicandro acts like a reformed and friendly ally to Alex and Marifer. The season’s final scene reveals he’s in cahoots with Dr. Alanis, and they seemingly killed Sara, but that’s another story entirely.

1 Pending: Is Sara Truly Dead?

Even though Nicandro states that he and Dr. Alanis killed Sara, things are more complicated than that. And after so many twists and turns, fans are beginning to wonder if Sara’s really dead. After all, César already faked his death so, why couldn’t Sara have done the same?

Perhaps she found out about all the people that wanted to kill her and decided to escape and start a new life? Maybe she even convinced Dr. Alanis to help her behind Nicadro’s back. If she indeed is alive, then does that mean her baby is too? Audiences will learn if she is dead or not once the series returns for a third season.
