Marvel Disney+ series Moon Knight will be different from anything in the MCU so far, and that’s exactly why Daredevil is the perfect character to cameo in the upcoming show. As the MCU grows wider with the many possibilities of Disney+, new heroes from every corner of the vast Marvel universe start getting a chance the spotlight. While specific details about Moon Knight’s plot are still largely unknown, the show will certainly open a lot of possibilities for the more mystical, mysterious side of the MCU.

Moon Knight will feature Marc Spector, a hero with a dissociative identity disorder. In the Disney+ series, which will premiere on March 30th, one of the many personalities (or alters) of Oscar Isaac’s character will be Steven Grant, a museum gift-shop worker who is unaware of Marc Spector’s military and mercenary background. Although the hero’s origin and some of the elements regarding his alters have seemingly been changed from the comics, Moon Knight is set to adapt one of Marvel’s most complex and thematically-rich characters from page to screen.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

With the first few trailers for Moon Knight having been released, audiences have gotten plenty of glimpses at the MCU’s newest vigilante. Promising something completely different from what the MCU has seen so far, Moon Knight will bring one of Marvel’s darkest characters to the screen for the first time. Concurrently, Charlie Cox’s Daredevil has also joined the MCU as seen in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Two masked vigilantes whose stories have a darker nature than most superheroes, Moon Knight and Daredevil have teamed up in the comics more than once. Now that both heroes are finally in the MCU, a Moon Knight and Daredevil team-up would thematically make a lot of sense. At the very least, a cameo wouldn’t be out of the question.

While questions about canon regarding Charlie Cox’s Daredevil in the MCU are still unsolved, it is a given that the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen and his antagonist Wilson Fisk, who also returned to the MCU in Hawkeye, will have a significant presence in the MCU. As seen in Daredevil season 2, the character of Matt Murdock shines best when facing a similarly brutal vigilante with a different philosophy, such as Franke Castle, a.k.a. the Punisher. Similarly, Daredevil and Moon Knight facing off would help establish each character’s morals in comparison to the other.

Moon Knight and Daredevil share similarities not only in the more serious tone of their stories but also in their fighting skills and villain’s gallery. Kingpin, for example, has faced Moon Knight more than once in the comics, both in the 616 and Ultimate universe; a villain connection that could bring Daredevil and Moon Knight together would not be too far-fetched. While the vigilantes would most likely clash at first, they would arguably quickly realize that they have a lot in common. What’s more, the team-up could also serve as the first proper introduction of a Midnight Sons movie or TV show in the MCU.

Charlie Cox returning as Daredevil in the MCU, as well as Oscar Isaac’s Moon Knight introduction in the franchise, adds another layer of possibility to the Marvel universe. Each in his distinct way, both characters bring a different type of story that can be added to an MCU that’s already quite diverse in tone. By having a Daredevil cameo in Moon Knight, Marvel can expand those possibilities even further while helping to establish the darker side of the MCU.
