Fallout 4‘s Commonwealth is full of opportunities for the Sole Survivor to build their reputation. Its very fate can be decided through the main story, but developer Bethesda also filled the game with a variety of side quests to keep players entertained. One side quest, “The Silver Shroud,” is rather lengthy, but for what it adds to Fallout 4’s completion time, it generously rewards players with the Fallout 4 Silver Shroud armor, a unique outfit more than worth the effort to unlock it.

Near Goodneighbor, located northeast of Diamond City, the Silver Shroud Radio station becomes available. It plays a radio drama of a masked vigilante who prowls the streets of Boston. The station is run by a Goodneighbor-dwelling ghoul named Kent Connolly, who asks players to seek out Fallout 4’s Silver Shroud costume at Hubris Comics. Connolly is desperate to see his favorite hero come to life and sends players to dispense vigilante justice throughout the Commonwealth once the costume has been retrieved.

The Silver Shroud armor side quest is one of Fallout 4‘s longest. Connolly has players take down multiple targets as the Silver Shroud and leave behind a calling card. Eventually, he is kidnapped, and players must go on one final mission to save him. They’ll want to take the final confrontation carefully, as ensuring Connolly’s survival through the ordeal will reward them with Fallout 4’s Silver Shroud armor set, one of the game’s best items that is also upgradeable.

Fallout 4’s Silver Shroud Armor Becomes Upgradeable

Although his service to the Silver Shroud resulted in him being kidnapped and nearly killed, Connolly will continue to help out players by making upgrades to the Silver Shroud armor following the quest’s completion. As players level up, they’ll catch Silver Shroud Radio broadcasts wherein Connolly says has a special delivery for the vigilante. Visiting him will unlock an upgrade depending on their character level, and reaching level 45 allows the Fallout 4 Silver Shroud armor to be fully upgraded, becoming one of the best damage-resistant outfits in Fallout 4’s wasteland.

In addition to its high damage and energy resistance stats of 87, the Silver Shroud armor also grants a small bonus to Agility and Perception and reduces all damage from human foes by 15%. The questline is rather involved, drawing the Sole Survivor away from the search for their son to bring some justice to the lawless Commonwealth, but the upgraded Fallout 4 Silver Shroud armor is worth the time. The quest has some good writing as well, and its reward makes it one of the game’s more compelling diversions.
