Will Alexandra Daddario Return In Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2022

While many fans of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise are happy to see another addition to the series in 2022, some are wondering whether Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D star Alexandra Daddario will appear in the upcoming Netflix sequel. Before becoming a bona fide blockbuster star, Alexandra Daddario starred in 2013’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D. A direct sequel to the Tobe Hooper classic from 1974, Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D received middling reviews upon release.

Now, Netflix is hoping to breathe new life into the classic horror franchise with 2022’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre reboot. Another direct sequel to the original, Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2022 will see a group of ill-prepared teens face off against Leatherface and company in an abounded town decades after the action of the original movie. However, this time around, original Texas Chainsaw Massacre final girl Sally Hardesty will be back to even the playing field and face off against her old nemesis.

Since both movies purport to be direct sequels to the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, some fans of the franchise want to know whether Alexandra Daddario’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D heroine will appear in 2022’s reboot of the horror series. The answer is likely no, but not for the obvious reason that viewers may expect (this reason being that her career profile has grown too much since the 2013 release). Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2022 is attempting a Halloween 2018-style sequel that will ignore every sequel after the original 1974 movie, meaning Daddario’s character doesn’t exist in its timeline of events.

Although Daddario’s character Edith Rose Sawyer survived to join Leatherface’s cannibal clan of killers at the end of that outing, her story took place in what viewers can reasonably assume was a separate timeline from 2022’s reboot. There is still some speculation that Daddario’s character could make a surprise appearance, but it’s unlikely because that development would canonically connect 2022’s sequel to Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D. This would make the events of Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D canon in the Netflix reboot’s universe, and thus 2022’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre would no longer be a direct sequel to Hooper’s original, but rather a sequel to a sequel. That said, anything is possible in the world of horror franchises.

Early this year, after much speculation Matthew Lillard’s Scream survivor Stu would appear in Scream 2022, the sequel shocked viewers by bringing back another, much less likely famous face from the series. As a horror franchise, the Texas Chainsaw Massacre movies need to pull out all the stops to shock viewers, and revealing that Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2022 is a stealth sequel to Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D would certainly manage that. However, the fact that few fans of the original movie considered Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D a worthy addition to the franchise means that the expensive addition of Daddario to the reboot’s cast list could be a wasted investment and, therefore, Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2022 is still unlikely to bring her back.
