The wife of a Witcher 3: Wild Hunt fan asked voice actor Doug Cockle to deliver a Christmas message to her husband in Geralt of Rivia’s voice. Doug Cockle has voiced the White Wolf since CD Projekt Red’s first Witcher game, which hit PC in 2007 to minimal fanfare. A sequel, The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, launched in 2011 and received plenty of critical acclaim, though the series continued to fly under the radar in most circles.

It wasn’t until The Witcher 3’s 2015 release across PC, PS4, and Xbox One that both the franchise and CD Projekt Red truly rose to the top. Since then, Cockle and his version of Geralt have similarly garnered fame, with actor Henry Cavill often citing Cockle as the inspiration for his Geralt voice for the hit Netflix series. And as many are well aware, the interactive franchise’s lead voice actor never shies away from getting involved in the fan community. Thus, Doug Cockle’s latest act as Geralt of Rivia is nothing short of wholesome.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Earlier this week, Reddit user Normal_Mode9539, whose first name is Garrett, shared a clip featuring Doug Cockle dressed in Santa Claus attire. The Redditor’s wife, Meredith, essentially won the holidays by requesting a Christmas message for her husband; Cockle obliged and sent a personal message to Garrett. Notably, the actor as Geralt wishes Garrett a very Merry Christmas, then proceeds to question why his wife just so happened to always wake up during some of The Witcher 3’s more erotic scenes. Needless to say, some questions are probably best left unanswered. See the full clip in the post linked below:

This heartwarming yet comical video serves as further proof that Doug Cockle is a class act. And who knew Geralt’s Witcher medallion paired so well with not so ugly Christmas sweaters? Evidently, almost anything can work when the White Wolf is involved.

The Witcher remains the talk of the town following the recent release of the Netflix show’s sophomore season. In the coming months, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will undoubtedly reenter the spotlight, too, given that CD Projekt Red plans on releasing the RPG’s PS5 and Xbox Series X|S upgrades in Q2 2022. The studio also previously teased its intentions with a fourth mainline Witcher title, though not even the vaguest of details have surfaced online as of yet.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available to play now on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
