Artist Bruno Claudino recently shared fan art of what The Witcher‘s Geralt and Vesemir would look like as capybaras. Both The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and the Netflix series have received mountains of fan art over the last couple of years, with one of the more popular pieces reimagining Mads Mikkelsen as Geralt of Rivia.

In Witcher lore, Vesemir serves as the closest thing Geralt has to a father figure. Andrzej Sapkowski artfully conveyed as much in his world-renowned book series and CD Projekt Red explored the relationship in its acclaimed game franchise, starting with the original entry in 2007. While he starred in The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, Vesemir will soon make his live-action Netflix debut in The Witcher Season 2. Naturally, Vesemir fan art is primed to receive a boost in popularity, once even more people see the famed Witcher mentor in action. And one piece of art, in particular, has already captured the imaginations of those who love Geralt and Vesemir.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Over the weekend, artist Bruno_Claudino took to Reddit and shared an image of his Vesemir and Geralt-inspired art. This is much more than an illustration embodying the characters’ looks in the games or on TV. Rather, Claudino reimagined the duo as a pair of capybaras, the overly large rodents that are indigenous to South America. In the fan art, Vesemir stands with both fists balled on the left-hand side, no doubt in the middle of advising Geralt with sage words of wisdom. The White Wolf himself stands to the right, obviously listening intently to the words of his mentor.

The detail in the above image is incredible. Vesemir’s gauntlets and the relatively subtle mustache that peeks below his snout perfectly capture his Witcher 3 character design. Similarly, Geralt’s taller stature and elbow-length gloves give his capybara redesign a distinctive look.

CD Projekt Red released The Witcher 3 in May 2015 to widespread critical acclaim that ensured the RPG remained a much-beloved adventure throughout the eighth console generation. It’s since exceeded 30 million units in sale worldwide, making it the Polish studio’s best-selling project to date. And that figure will likely continue to climb, especially since PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S ports are in the works. Originally scheduled to launch in late 2021, the enhanced version of The Witcher 3 now boasts a Q2 2022 release window.
