The Witcher season 2 may bring back an unexpected minor character from its first season. In each episode of season one, The Witcher drew from either Andrzej Sapkowski’s The Last Wish or Sword of Destiny. While the short stories in those books follow Geralt (the “Witcher”) as the primary protagonist, Netflix’s The Witcher puts Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri on a level playing field. By using three non-linear timelines, the series establishes Yennefer and Ciri outside of Geralt’s point-of-view. There’s no indication that their stories are taking place years apart until episode 4 when Ciri becomes Geralt’s child of surprise.

Before episode 4’s revelation, episode 3, “Betrayer Moon,” begins with Geralt lying in bed next to a prostitute examining his scars from monster-hunting. She tells him that Remus, a fellow witcher, passed through on his way to Temeria (where a monster is killing local workers). Geralt then sets off after Remus and we never see the prostitute, whose name is Danica (Imogen Daines), for the remainder of season one. The first season ends many years later when the three main character’s timelines converge and Geralt and Ciri finally meet.

According to Redanian Intelligence, Imogen Daines may be returning as Danica in The Witcher season 2. Danica will reportedly appear in one of the season’s earlier episodes directed by Stephen Surjik. Being that she was such a minor character in season one, it is unclear what role she will play in the story. When we first met Danica, it was long before Ciri was even born. If she appears in the current timeline, she will inevitably be much older; however, there’s also the possibility of her appearing in flashbacks.

Showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich has explained how The Witcher’s second season can incorporate flashbacks and flash-forwards now that there’s only one main timeline (as opposed to three). The show’s first season didn’t do much to explore Geralt’s backstory. However, Episode 8 briefly alluded to Geralt’s mother, Visenna, who gave him up as a child. Since season 2 is poised to explore more of Geralt’s life via flashbacks, he could be shown visiting Danica as a client once again.

If we see an older Danica, it will most likely be at Kaer Morhen, an old keep where witchers are trained. We know that the witchers, Lambert (Paul Bullion), Eskel (Thue Ersted Rasmussen), Coën (Yasen Atour), and Vesemir (Kim Bodnia) have all been cast. Vesemir, being the most experienced, is the witcher who trained and acts as a father figure to Geralt. That said, Geralt will be taking Ciri to train at Kaer Morhen in season 2 of The Witcher. Scenes being filmed at Kaer Morhen have appeared to include Geralt, Ciri, the new witchers, and several female characters. Being that witchers have an apparent penchant for prostitution, it’s not a stretch to imagine Danica visiting them as a madam in charge of several women.
