Wolverine & Blade Cosplay Unites Marvel’s Greatest Vampire Hunters

Even though Blade is likely Marvel Comics‘ most notorious vampire hunter, Wolverine has fought his share of nocturnal monsters as well and the two just came together (despite their tense history) in a new cosplay. The two often battle vampires in darker ways than most. His complicated history as a half-human, half-vampire drives Blade to finish his enemies in darker ways than other heroes. Likewise, years of torture and memory loss in the Weapon-X facility fuels Wolverine’s will to violently slash his way through his enemies.

In the past, James “Logan” Howlett and Eric Cross Brooks have fought together and against each other. One of their most definitive interactions happens in Marvel’s original Civil War event. After slaying several vampirically infected S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, Blade is approached by Director Maria Hill who offers to clear Daywalker’s record. However, there’s a catch—he must register under the Superhuman Registration Act. Blade accepts, and his first mission is to hunt down Wolverine. Nonetheless, upon seeing the X-Man’s face, Blade recognizes Logan as a man who once saved his life from a vampire. Eric tells Maria Hill that Wolverine is off-limits, and the two hunters make amends.

Cosplyers Dorkside Fitness and Bryon Xten Smith just formed an ultimate alliance by combining their respective Wolverine and Blade cosplays in a remarkably comic-accurate photoshoot. Two posts feature Dorkside’s Wolverine on Reddit. In the first picture, he teams up with Bryon’s Blade, reminding fans of the duo’s potential. The two vampire hunters appear to be kicking back and waiting for their next battle. Blade’s pointed, vampiric teeth look sharper than ever as he twirls his daggers. Meanwhile, Wolverine smokes his cigar, as he often does in his more classic comic book appearances.

In another post on Dorkside Fitness’ account, viewers can see Wolverine grinning as a vampire violently shoves him into a wall. While Blade isn’t in this post, Dorkside seems to continue the narrative from the other post, as Wolverine faces a Nosferatu-looking opponent. Shon Paul Johnson (@shonpauljohnson702) is the vampire meeting the end of Wolverine’s claws; although the vampire seems to be winning, Logan’s sinister grin can’t be good for the rage that’s about to come.

Blade and Wolverine are both some of the darkest Marvel heroes. While their search for vampires can sometimes consume them, they’ll never back down. The Daywalker is ready for anything with his arsenal of weapons that are deadly to vampires, and Wolverine is practically unkillable due to his evolved healing factor. Whether it’s the duo’s looks, abilities, or both, the vampires might not want to come out of their crypts while Wolverine and Blade roam the night.
