Warning: spoilers ahead for Dark Nights: Death Metal #6 and #7!

In the finale to Dark Nights: Death Metal, Wonder Woman settles the age-old question of who would win in a fight between her and Thor. The final two issues show the Amazonian princess taking center stage and using her new cosmic powers to defeat one of the greatest villains the DC Universe has ever faced and save the Multiverse.

The Dark Nights: Death Metal crossover mini-series created by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo features the Batman Who Laughs gaining God-like powers rivaling the likes of Anti-Monitor and Perpetua. He plans to remake the Multiverse in his image. However, after facing off against some of DC’s greatest heroes and villains, the Batman Who Laughs finds himself up against Wonder Woman in the climactic final battle in issue #7, after Wonder Woman obtains cosmic powers in issue #6.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

During the final battle to save the multiverse in Dark Nights: Death Metal #7, Wonder Woman is the one who steps up to defeat the Batman Who Laughs. Even though Thor recently received a massive power upgrade, Snyder’s opening narration affirms that Diana is the superior being. “She has been a god before, but at this moment she’smore.” Thanks to her decisions in this issue, Diana finds herself communicating with a member of the Hands, who were planning on undoing the universe. During their discussion, this powerful entity chooses to take on a form their kind admires, “A creation we celebrate for its heroism.” They then transform into her. This leads to them telling Wonder Woman, who gladly offers her life in exchange for saving the universe, that: “You will be more alive than ever, but you must ascend, to help us protect this fresh new reality….protect it from a lurking threat.

The actors playing these heroes on the big screen seem to agree with that Diana is the stronger hero. Actress Gal Gadot once spoke about the rivalry between Wonder Woman and Thor, stating that “I think it’s Wonder Woman. Don’t you, Chris?” Thor actor Chris Hemsworth didn’t take long to respond on Twitter, claiming that “I think she’d kick Thor’s a**.” Gadot happily chimed back that it was “worth a fight” and that the two should “collide worlds.

Wonder Woman’s ascension and heroic actions in Dark Nights: Death Metal alone tell the story of an empowering superhero who is more than a match for Thor. It would be amazing if DC and Marvel ever did a crossover to see the battle happen for real on the big screen. Longtime comic book fans may even remember that when DC and Marvel did crossover back in 1996’s DC vs. Marvel event, Wonder Woman was able to lift Thor’s hammer. Despite being a crossover event from the 90s, this event still holds weight today as evidenced by the events within the story “Rule for Reflection” in Thor: The Worthy #1, where Wonder Woman can be glimpsed holding Thor’s hammer Mjolnir. So, not only could Wonder Woman beat Thor, but she could take his hammer when she’s done with him.
