World of Warcraft, the fantasy RPG that has captured many gamers’ hearts, is known for its ability to enable players to customize their experiences. This means that players have been given the opportunity to collect different armor pieces, gear, and weapons of a variety of styles and functionality. One of the first impressions that players have on each other is through their armor, which they can switch up to make more colorful and whimsical with the Sprite Darter’s Wings transmog set.

There are four types of armor that players can collect in World of Warcraft: cloth, leather, mail, and plate. These different types are best suited to specific classes, and there are nine core slots that players can use to equip armor. Armor not only improves a player’s physical appearance but their stats as well. Depending on the quality of the armor, it will be able to improve the character’s stats by a certain percentage. One of the downsides to this is that a piece of armor’s appearance does not necessarily correspond to its effect on a player’s stats. Players will need to find different ways to make their armor stand out with Transmogrification.

How to Get the Sprite Darter’s Wings Transmog Set

A Transmogrification, also commonly referred to as a transmog, is an effect that disguises a piece of armor or weapon as another. This is beneficial to players when they want the high stats of a special item, but would like the physical appearance of another. This will also come in handy if players want to hide a piece of armor. Not all items can be transmogged, and players will need to be able to equip both the piece of armor and the transmog at the same time.

The Sprite Darter’s Wings set is a transmog that will allow World of Warcraft players to retain the stats of their favorite gear while giving it a new and colorful look. Many transmogs can be obtained through completing quests for NPC’s, but players can purchase this specific transmog with real-world currency. Inspired by the fey dragons of Azeroth, this colorful and cheerful transmog is a full costume that players can wear as a full set, or in eight individual pieces. It comes with cosmetic wings and a sprite mask that will give characters a mesmerizing appearance. The transmog does not extend to weapons, so players’ weapons will look the same even with the transmog activated.

To receive this transmog, players will need to pay for a six-month subscription to World of Warcraft at a time from the Blizzard store for $12.99 a month, or $77.94 total, at this point in time. This special is set to continue until December 13th, 2020. If a player is already on a six-month recurring subscription cycle, they should check their gifts in the Blizzard store. As they have already purchased a six-month subscription, their transmog will be free.  If they have not already been awarded the Sprite Darter’s Wings Transmog, it should be in their gifts before or on October 30th. This could be considered a sound investment for players looking into the Shadowlands expansion, as they may be set on spending half a year on the game anyway.

If a player doesn’t want to purchase a six-month subscription, they can also purchase the transmog outright for $20.00 in the Blizzard Store as well. So far, these two options are the only way for the player to acquire the transmog, but this might change at a later date. This transmog can be applied to any character that has been linked to the account the subscription has been assigned to, or that has been associated with the purchase of the transmog. Keep in mind that this transmog is not available in World of Warcraft Classic

Once players have purchased the transmog, they will be able to view it in their list of appearances. Players will need to activate their transmogs by visiting a Transmogrifier in a faction city. They will have to give a Transmogrifier a set amount of gold that may change for each different piece of armor. Transmogs can be reverted back to an original state for free. Each faction can visit six different Transmogrifiers, with neutral Transmogrifiers located in Dalaran and via the Grand Expedition Yak mount. Alliance Transmogrifiers is located in The Three Winds of Stormwind, The Shrine of Seven Stars, Stormshield, and Lunarfall. Horde Transmogrifiers are located in Orgrimmar, The Shrine of Two Moons, Warspear, and Frostwall.

All Transmogrifiers will have the title of Warpweaver, and have a mummy-like appearance with a purple glow. They won’t be difficult to find, as they are usually located in the commonly traversed areas or marketplaces of the city they call home. Players can then view how their character would look wearing the full Sprite Darter’s Wings transmog, or pieces of it before they activate it. Naturally, this transmog can be activated by members of any race, class, or faction.

With the ability to transmog even the most powerful and intimidating armor into the Sprite Darter’s Wings set, players can bring more color and whimsy to their character’s armor. Keep an eye out for the set equipped on players roaming around Azeroth, as some characters may only have wings or other small parts of the set equipped. Use the Sprite Darter’s Wings set to bring more color to a character’s wardrobe, or to hide a piece of exceptionally ugly armor that is too powerful to throw out.
