World War Z has a plethora of toys to play with to assist players in reducing hordes of the undead into chunky salsa. To add an extra punch, there are ‘Prestige Weapons’ available to unlock and this guide will show how to do that.

The World War Z video game was released on April 16, 2019, by Mad Dog Games and it puts players in the heart of an epic journey across 18 locations across the world as they escape the growing number of zombies within their cities. A total of 4 players can team up and fight their way to safety as they complete objectives while scavenging the streets looking for anything to use as a weapon. Players have 6 particular classes to chose from; Hellraiser, Gunslinger, Medic, Fixer, Exterminator, and Slasher. All these classes specialize in everything from enhanced melee attacks to increased ammunition support. Players will eventually unlock perks for their characters, customization options, and munition support during gameplay.

Every class comes with a skills tree in which players can unlock perks through an in-game currency called “Supplies”. They generally come with a passive perk starting off, then as players upgrade their characters they’ll eventually unlock more nuanced upgrades. This can be something like, “adding 5% more ammunition with every headshot” to, “reloading magazines 25% faster”, etc. Achieving certain feats like; completing objectives, blowing up zombies, achieving headshots, and reviving teammates reward players with a certain amount of “Supplies”. So naturally, this adds up over time, and players can go to the ‘Customization’ menu screen to find all the perks to unlock and level up the class of their choosing. Thus, any weapon that the player used during the match will slowly upgrade itself, but it’ll stop until players use the “Supplies” currency when customizing to unlock certain ‘upgrading nodes’. Ultimately, there’s a cap to leveling up and this is when players will reach ‘Prestige’ status.

Unlocking Prestige Weapons in World War Z

Of course, when trying to achieve ‘Prestige’ status, the more “Supplies” it will cost when climbing up the upgrade tree. Sometimes, it can go up to ‘750 Supplies’ to unlock just one upgrade, which can take some time to stack up. Therefore, going back and forth from upgrading weapons to unlocking perks can get a bit pricey. So, it’s recommended that players find their favorite weapon and treat it as a pet. Just hold on to it and keep using it in order to upgrade it to its max potential in half the time. If desirable, play the game on higher difficulty settings to increase the rate of ‘Supplies’. Going beyond 10 waves in ‘Horde Mode’ can reward mad ‘Supplies’, for example, or just replay the campaign offline on ‘Extreme Mode’. Pay attention to which weapon upgrades first within the tree of the player’s favorite class and just commit to that particular weapon.

In other words, try and upgrade the default weapon to Tier II or III first and foremost. This will be a good starting point for any particular class and it will free up options for focusing on another firearm. In the ‘Customization Menu’, the “White Locked Weapons” are the prestige weapons. In order to potentially unlock a ‘Prestige Weapon’, players will need to reach prestige status twice. Once this happens, the weapons will become unlockable, but it’s not without a price. The cost of ‘Supplies’ for obtaining a prestige weapon can be steep. So, make sure the required perks that come with one are worth the effort. Prestige weapons not only come in snazzy-looking skins, but they also come with high caliber stats that can really help out with the undead menace.
