A somber story out of South Carolina: The most recent champion of The Food Network’s Worst Cooks in America, Ariel Robinson, was recently arrested for an especially horrific crime. The former “Worst Cook in America” and her husband were both taken into custody in their hometown of Simpsonville, S.C. They were both charged with the homicide of a young girl.

Ariel Robinson, who went by “Ari” during her championship season, came on to the series as a recently retired teacher and future stand-up comedian. She filmed her season right before the pandemic in February 2020, and it premiered in June of last year. Ari won $25,000 and a few thousand followers for her efforts on the show, both of which she put toward her budding entertainment career. After filming wrapped, Ari and her husband Jerry welcomed three foster children into their family. Ari often promoted the life-changing effects of adoption on her social media accounts and podcast, which she hosted with Jerry. But contrary to her bubbly stage persona, something dark must have been boiling just beneath the surface.

According to Fox Carolina, Ari and Jerry Robinson were both arrested on Tuesday in connection with the murder of their three-year-old foster child. The details of the charges are brutal and not for the faint of heart – reader discretion is advised. The victim, Victoria Rose Smith, was found unresponsive in her home on January 14. She was later pronounced dead at the hospital. The cause of death involved multiple blunt force traumas to the head and body of the victim. Ari and Jerry Robinson, the guardians responsible for her safety, are believed by authorities to be the perpetrators. In her mug shot, Ari looks like an empty shell of the former cooking show champion. Ari and her husband now reside at the local detention center and have been denied bond.
