With one week to go before World of Warcrafts: Shadowlands releases, the schedule for the expansion’s new raid, Castle Nathria, has been unveiled. For players eager to start the newest World of Warcraft expansion, there’s already a Shadowlands pre-launch event ongoing with more content coming soon. Before Castle Nathria opens, here’s everything to know about its release schedule.

Castle Nathria is the new endgame raid for World of Warcraft: Shadowlands. It is a ten-boss raid that promises excellent loot drops and tokens to exchange for Covenant-specific weapons. As the home of Sire Denathrius, players will take on many notable evil bosses in Shadowlands. As typical for a WoW expansion, higher difficulty modes will be released periodically.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

While Shadowlands releases next week, Castle Nathria won’t be available until December 8th. Both Normal and Heroic difficulties will be available that day, but World of Warcraft players will have to wait a little longer for Mythic difficulty to appear in-game. Additionally, it will be February before all four Raid Finder Wings in Shadowlands are fully open. This is a preventative measure to keep players from rushing through content too quickly, as well as ensuring players continue to subscribe in the upcoming months.

When Castle Nathria’s Raids Open In WoW: Shadowlands

While Normal and Heroic modes are available on December 8th, the Mythic Castle Nathria won’t be available until the following week, on December 15th. At this same time, Raid Finder Wing 1 will open up as well. Wing 2 opens on January 5th, and Wing 3 opens on January 19th. Raid Finder Wing 4 is set to arrive February 2nd. This means the World of Warcraft: Shadowlands release schedule for Castle Nathria is:

  • December 8th – Castle Nathria Normal and Heroic raid difficulties open
  • December 15th – Mythic difficulty and Raid Finder Wing 1 opens
  • January 5th – Raid Finder Wing 2 opens
  • January 19th – Raid Finder Wing 3 opens
  • February 2nd – Raid Finder Wing 4 opens

The December 8th release of Castle Nathria also marks Season 1 of World of Warcraft: Shadowlands. This means the release of the Castle Nathria raids will take place around the holidays, which has concerned some players. The timing isn’t ideal, and it could mean low participation numbers and longer queue times. Most likely, this is a side effect of Shadowlands being delayed earlier this year.

While Castle Nathria was previewed during the beta, and teases have been shared by Activision Blizzard, this will be the first chance a lot of players have to experience the raid firsthand. The raid officially opens on December 8th, with higher-end difficulty modes releasing into World of Warcraft: Shadowlands throughout the following months.
