WWE 2K22: How MyRISE Is Different From Career Mode

WWE 2K’s Career Mode has been revamped and renamed MyRISE for WWE 2K22. Improving upon its precursor, MyCAREER Mode, WWE 2K22‘s MyRISE mode offers players multiple character backgrounds and two different storylines, depending on whether the player chooses a male or female superstar as their fighter. MyRISE, therefore, offers over double the number of hours of gameplay than Career Mode in WWE 2K20.

The ninth game under the WWE 2K franchise, WWE 2K22 released on March 8 for PC and both PlayStation and Xbox consoles. After WWE 2K21 was cancelled, fans of the franchise had to wait longer than usual between releases, with 2019’s WWE 2K20 being the most recent installment. Unlike other major video games delayed until 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Visual Concepts’ WWE 2K21 was canceled due to WWE 2K20’s poor reception, with many calling it one of the worst games of 2019 and the worst title in the series.

Due to WWE 2K20’s less-than-favorable reception, Visual Concepts decided to take a year hiatus from the beloved wrestling series. As a result, all eyes have been on the release of WWE 2K22 to see if the franchise can right the wrongs of its last installment. Although the critic reviews for WWE 2K22 aren’t quite in yet, early feedback from audiences to WWE 2K22‘s improved gameplay has been generally positive, suggesting that WWE 2K22 may have done enough to revive series and make up for the failures of WWE 2K20.

WWE 2K22 MyRISE: Unique Storylines For Female & Male Superstars

One of the biggest changes in WWE 2K22 is the new and improved Career Mode, now known as MyRISE. Players will begin their MyRISE journey by choosing a male or female superstar as their fighter, with a unique storyline depending on whichever they choose. Each storyline will differ, with each offering about 25 hours of unique content and gameplay, including around 1,000 fights, making MyRISE WWE 2K’s most comprehensive Career Mode to date, and a major improvement over past WWE 2K games. Additionally, players choose from one of four fighting styles for their character, as well as their character’s background and crowd reactions, giving more customizability.

WWE 2K22 aims to restore the legacy of the WWE 2K franchise after WWE 2K20 was panned by audiences and critics alike. With a total of 50 hours of gameplay, MyRISE offers a unique storyline depending on whether a player chooses the female and male WWE superstar as their character. Players will be also be able to engage in rivalries and partnerships with other superstars, adding to the game’s replayability over the long haul. Only time will tell if WWE 2K22 will be enough to revive the franchise and mend the strained relationship between WWE and 2K Sports, but the early positive feedback on WWE 2K22 is a promising start.
