The badass remnant hunter Wynonna Earp might be leaving screens for good thanks to Syfy pulling the plug on the show after 4 seasons. Wynonna and her crew are fan favorites due to their humor and the chemistry they all share with each other on-screen. Many are heartbroken that these lovable characters won’t be saving Purgatory from whichever kind of bad guys are tormenting it that week.

After already saving the show once from cancelation, fans are still optimistic another network will pick it up. But if the show cannot be saved, or until it is, there are a few other series with similar themes and characteristics for fans of the supernatural western to try out.

10 Supernatural: Available To Stream On Netflix

Supernatural is an obvious place to start for fans of the paranormal aspect of Wynonna Earp. The show followed the Winchester Brothers as they hunted down everything from demons, angels, and vampires to God himself. Both shows have members of the main cast who are angels and become allies with some of the supernatural beings they encounter like some of the witches and vampires who have helped the brothers.

Like Doc, both the brothers have been a version of a demon at one time or another, making this a good choice for fans of stories with interesting main characters. Then two brothers might also be a good replacement for those missing the relationship between Wynonna and her sister Waverly. Look out for Melanie Scrofano (Wynonna) who pops up for an episode in season two.

9 Grimm: Available To Stream On Amazon Prime

Another great paranormal show fans would love is Grimm. Like Wynonna, a lot of the main characters are superhuman, including the main character Nick who like Wynonna, is gifted with the responsibility to hunt down the bad guys. On Grimm, the bad guys come in the form of Wesen, the collective term for the creatures on the show, many inspired by Grimm fairytales and other popular folklore.

He was gifted with the ability to see their true form, something hidden to everyone else, meaning he is one of the only ones who can eliminate them, much like Wynonna and her connection with Peacemaker. Both of these protagonists must deal with the choices they have to make as they try to figure out which creatures are good and which are worth killing, especially when the people closest to them start revealing that they aren’t all human themselves, like Nicks’s own best friend and his wife.

8 Warrior Nun: Available To Stream On Netflix

Warrior Nun is a Netflix hit show, and despite its name, it might surprise viewers with its interesting concept. Wynonna sure would have nothing to do with a nunnery under normal circumstances but the nuns on this show are far from typical. For starters, they hunt demons. The main story revolves around Ava, an orphaned teen who wakes up in a morgue, brought back to life thanks to the ancient artifact that was hidden inside her body.

She learns she has superpowers and is cured of her quadriplegia, making her ecstatic and eager to finally live life. But her euphoria is short-lived when she is forced to join the Order of the Cruciform Sword, an ancient organization of evil-fighting nuns. Ava could relate to Wynonna’s lack of choice in the whole demon-killing thing and fans of Wynonna’s cheeky responses would love her.

7 Haven: Available To Stream On Tubi

Haven has quite a lot in common with Wynonna Earp, and not just because they both aired on Syfy and got canceled before fans were ready to let go. Haven centers around a town of the same name that like Purgatory, suffers a curse.

In Haven, the curse comes in the form of The Troubles and it wreaks havoc on the small town, jinxing the townspeople with paranormal afflictions at random.  Haven also happens to be another show featuring the acting talents of Melanie Scrofano, this time in season 3 with a two-episode arc as Noelle, a character who can bring people back from the dead.

6 Van Helsing: Available To Stream On Netflix

The main character of Van Helsing, Vanessa, often gets compared to Wynonna and even Wynonna would have to admit they have a lot in common. Both happen to be the female heirs of powerful hunters who must now eliminate evil themselves and they both share a strong bond with their sisters.

These fierce women could easily swap clothes and whiskey while talking about their respective conquests. If Wynonna Earp doesn’t get picked up maybe someone can just make a show with Vanessa and Wynonna teaming up to take out remnants and vampires.

5 Deadwood: Available To Stream On HBO Max

For those who watch the show because of its western theme and connection to one of the greatest cowboys of them all, they might enjoy the show Deadwood. While it is the only show on this list without any supernatural beings, fans of Wynonna Earp would still enjoy a lot of the aspects of Deadwood.

Deadwood chronicles the story of the town of Deadwood, South Dakota as it went from a small camp to a legitimate town. For fans of Purgatory’s small-town feel and the many bar scenes, they would surely love this drama that is all about the town where Wyatt Earp was from, and while the show does include Wyatt, sadly there is no Doc Holiday.

4 Shadowhunters: Available To Stream On Hulu

Wynonna Earp seemed to be heading in a very interesting direction with the storyline involving Waverly and her Angel ancestry, one that might be impossible to wrap up before the finale.

But to some fans, Shadowhunters might be a nice consolation prize, with the main focus of the show being a group of human-angel hybrids. Waverly would fit right in with this group so fans should have no trouble spending time with the characters as well.

3 Lost Girl: Available To Stream On CW Seed

Lost Girl is another show that’s an obvious pick for fans of Wynonna Earp, both of them brought to life on screen by Emily Andras and her team. Lost Girl is about a succubus trying to figure out her powers in a world full of a variety of supernatural characters.  Fans of Wynonna Earp are sure to recognize a few faces as well since a lot of the actors from Lost Girl have appeared on the show. Anna Silk portrays the main character Bo on Lost Girl and she appeared on Wynonna Earp as Kevin in season 3, helping the crew with Bulshar.

Zole Palmer, Jolene the demon obsessed with Waverly on Wynonna Earp, plays Bo’s partner Lauren on Lost Girl. Both shows have been praised for their inclusion of LGBTQ+ characters, which should make fans of WayHaught and Jeremy and Robin feel right at home. Fans of Doc also shouldn’t miss this one, since Tim Rozen plays the recurring character, Massimo. Katherine Barrell (Nicole) and Shamier Anderson (Dolls) also appear in episodes of the show.

2 Motherland: Fort Salem-Available To Stream On Hulu

Motherland: Fort Salem is a great selection for fans of Black Badge, the military group that employs Wynonna and her crew to eliminate the supernatural beings terrorizing Purgatory.

Motherland: Fort Salem also has a military faction that operates in a similar fashion as a Black Badge, but instead of using powerful heirs and immortals, this one uses witches as weapons after America made a deal with the witches 300 years ago to end their prosecution in exchange for their service.

1 The Irregulars: Available To Stream On Netflix

The Irregulars is the newest paranormal investigation show to come out, and while it joins together two very oversaturated themes, the combination might turn out to be a winning one.

The Netflix Original combines the paranormal with the world of Sherlock Holmes, with a group of teens finding themselves employed by the notorious sleuth to solve the otherworldy crimes that keep happened in London. Here’s hoping that this show can revive the paranormal mystery genre the way Wynonna Earp did for westerns.
