Warning! This article contains spoilers for Marauders #27

Since his first appearance on the original X-Men team, Iceman has proven his immense power and was even revealed to be an Omega Level Mutant sometime later, and now Iceman ups the ante on his own power by proving he is a cosmic-level hero. In recent comics, Iceman has joined the X-Men-adjacent team the Marauders, taking to the high seas and saving the day with his fellow team of rag-tag mutants. In the latest Marauders’ comic, Iceman goes off on his own deep into the cosmos and proves he can hold his own with the likes of Thor while showing off his incredible mutant power.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

In Marauders #27 by Gerry Duggan, Matteo Lolli, and Phil Noto, the mutant team of heroic pirates battles a horde of robots after they stole billions of dollars from a criminal organization and donated the money to charity. That organization sent the robot soldiers to take out the Marauders, but the team was seemingly having a pretty good time taking them out. As it turned out, they weren’t the only ones having fun during a fight in this issue, as it is revealed Iceman went off-world to epically flex his mutant-powered muscles.

Iceman traveled to Niffleheim, the homeworld of Frost Giants, to prove his ice-wielding superiority over the cosmic beings. While fighting them, Iceman cries out, “Send the ones that fight Thor!” to which an injured Frost Giant replies, “We are the ones that fight Thor!”. Iceman single-handedly takes down a group of cosmic warriors that are trained to take on Thor, a huge accomplishment for the earthbound hero. By doing this, Iceman proves he is more than just an Omega Level Mutant of Earth, but a warrior fit to take on powerful beings from other worlds.

While Iceman was seen here taking down multiple Frost Giants at once, he was once confused for one by one of Marvel’s greatest fighters in history. In Savage Avengers #18, Iceman along with a few other mutants go to the former Hellfire Club clubhouse where Conan the Barbarian was caught stealing. Iceman and Conan battle it out, with Conan recognizing Iceman’s abilities, leading the barbarian to question if the mutant was a descendant of Frost Giants. While Iceman clearly is not, that encounter showed that he packed the same punch as a Frost Giant and now fans know that Iceman’s punch is in fact greater.

Iceman has been around since the dawn of the X-Men, and as the team grew in popularity so did Iceman grow with power. From a main player on the original team to an Omega Level Mutant, to now a cosmic-level hero, Iceman has proven time and again that he is not to be messed with. X-Men’s Iceman proves he’s a cosmic-level hero by battling an army of Frost Giants trained to take down Thor and defeating them single-handedly.
