An executive for Xbox, Aaron Greenberg, is publicly campaigning for Elon Musk to make a real Halo Warthog. Musk, of course, recently became the richest man in the world is the CEO of many companies such as the electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla. The company is currently working on rolling out a new truck known as the “Cybertruck” which has a retro-future look and, in theory, has bulletproof glass. This marks the latest chapter in a seeming affinity of Elon Musk for the gaming community. Now he might be ready to bring projects from the virtual world into the real world.

Musk was an outspoken fan of Cyberpunk 2077 prior to its launch, even going as far as to make a brief cameo in the game. Musk has also been working on expanding how games can reach people over the last few years, allowing players to play games like The Witcher, Cyberpunk, and more all from the dashboard of their personal Tesla cars.

Aaron Greenberg, a marketing exec over at Xbox, suggested to Elon Musk via Twitter (via GameSpot) that the two should partner for a real-life Warthog. The truck is one of the most iconic vehicles in gaming and has been made in real-life a few times, though never properly for sale. With Elon Musk’s outlandish ideas, such as selling flamethrowers and the concept of the Cybertruck itself, a real Warthog could come to fruition. Imagine a cross between a Jeep and a Cybertruck (likely minus the turret) as a limited-edition Tesla Cybertruck.

The move would make for a good promotion for Halo Infinite, which is scheduled to arrive at the end of 2021. That may be short notice to make an entire car but the Cybertruck itself is scheduled to release around that same time with another model releasing in late 2022. It’s possible if Microsoft agrees to help work with Tesla on the project, they could easily get it ready for 2022.

Over the years, fans have made their own Warthogs from stripped-down vehicles. A more high-budget set of Warthogs were also made for Neill Blomkamp’s canceled Halo movie which would’ve been produced by Peter Jackson. The working replicas were produced by Weta Workshop, who are known for their work on movies like The Lord of the Rings, King Kong, and Mad Max: Fury Road. Whether or not an Elon Musk-made Warthog actually comes to fruition remains to be seen. The CEO likes to do risky and creative things that tie into his personal interests so it’s entirely possible he’ll reach out to Xbox to begin developing the idea for the car.
