One of the new Yellowstoneseason 5 characters could be the main villain in the latest installment of the Neo-Western series. This character is Sarah Atwood, played by Dawn Olivieri, whom some Taylor Sheridan fans might recognize as Claire Dutton – the aunt from 1883. Out of the large Yellowstone season 5 cast – which includes four new characters and several returning players – it would seem that Sarah Atwood is the one that both the Dutton family and the Confederated Tribes of Broken Rock really need to worry about.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Dawn Olivieri’s Sarah Atwood is described as both a new arrival in the state of Montana and as a corporate shark. Not much else has been revealed about Sarah or her intentions in the valley. However, since neither the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch nor the Broken Rock Indian Reservation would trust an outsider, it’s very likely that Sarah Atwood will be brought in by Market Equities in Yellowstone season 5.

In fact, with Yellowstone season 4 ending with Market Equities CEO Caroline Warner (Jacki Weaver) being the sole memorable character who represents the company, it makes sense for Caroline to call in reinforcements. This is especially true after Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) sabotaged Market Equities and cost them millions in damages, which prompted Caroline to threaten to pave over everything the Duttons hold dear. While Caroline is the CEO of Market Equities, Sarah Atwood could be her new wartime advisor, similar to what Beth Dutton does for John (Kevin Costner).

Why Sarah Atwood Could Be Yellowstone Season 5’s Villain

Apart from the character description for Sarah Atwood, the return of Angela Blue Thunder (Q’orianka Kilcher) further supports the idea that Sarah could be the new villain. One of the biggest unanswered questions after the Yellowstone season 4 ending was the fate of Angela Blue Thunder, who simply disappeared from the show and was never even mentioned during season 4. Angela was the business consultant hired by Chief Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham) in Yellowstone season 3. After Angela called Thomas a slave to the white man, she reminded the Chief that it is his sworn duty to protect their land at all costs – as mandated by ancient tribal law, which predate any white laws or governments established in America. Like Beth does for her father John, Angela can cover the areas that Thomas Rainwater is unwilling and unable to cross – and Sarah can do the same for Caroline.

Yellowstone season 5 could reveal the final fate of the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch, as the three main factions seem to be gearing up for one final fight. Beth Dutton and Angela Blue Thunder could even team-up and finally follow through on their plans against Market Equities from Yellowstone season 3. As a corporate shark dropped in the middle of near-cataclysmic tensions between Market Equities, the Duttons, and Broken Rock, Sarah Atwood is bound to have a significant role in Yellowstone season 5.
