Youfans are eating well this week with another announcement confirming the show has added three new series regulars to star opposite Penn Badgley’s Joe Goldberg, in addition to 11 new cast members in recurring roles. The thriller series is based on Caroline Kepnes’ book series of the same name, and follows Joe, whose obsessive nature and troubled love life often end in homicide. The most recent season forced his new wife Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti) and love interest Marienne Bellamy (Tati Gabrielle) to realize just how far he will go to get what he wants, including a scorched-earth campaign.

Most recently, Netflix dropped set photos from You season 4 that show off Joe Golderberg’s much scruffier look, and a reading list of British literature that includes Charles Dickens, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and William Makepeace Thackeray. Earlier, it was announced that Lukas Gage and Charlotte Ritchie were cast as series regulars with Gage playing Adam, a wealthy and manipulative entrepreneur with charm to rival Joe’s, and Ritchie playing Kate, an independent art gallery director who will be a lead opposite Badgley’s Joe this season. Set photos posted online after production was announced also confirm that Gabrielle’s Marienne will make a return after she escaped Joe’s clutches at the end of You season 3.

Deadline reports that a whopping 14 cast members have been added to the cast of You season 4, and their character descriptions reveal a bit more about what may be in store for America’s favorite serial killer on the run. The three new series regulars are Tilly Keeper, Amy-Leigh Hickman, and Ed Speleers. Keeper will play Lady Phoebe, a famous socialite who’s been in the limelight since she was 15 and has a habit of being a chaotic wildcard. Hickman will play Nadia, a literature major with major insecurities and a skeleton in her closet that will have her seeking help from the wrong people. Speelers will play Rhys, an irreverent author who made a name for himself making all the right friends at Oxford but whose troubled upbringing allows him to see through people’s facades.

The rest of the casting announcement includes the addition of Niccy Lin, Aidan Cheng, Stephen Hagan, Ben Wiggins, Eve Austin, Ozioma Whenu, Dario Coates, Sean Pertwee, Brad Alexander, Alison Pargeter, and Adam James as recurring characters that make up London’s upper crust on You. Of those, a few in particular stand out, like Hagan’s character, Malcolm, a literature professor with a penchant for drugs who is dating Kate. Malcolm will probably pose a threat to Joe if he becomes involved with Kate. Another standout is Pargeter’s character, Dawn, a paparazzi photographer whose job allows her to blend in and get photos of people (like Joe) who don’t otherwise want to be photographed. Sean Pertwee’s character, Vic, Adam’s personal driver/confidant/security that isn’t afraid to do Adam’s dirty work, could also present a challenge to Joe if he starts causing problems.

Now that most, if not all, of the casting announcements have been made, the form of the new season is quickly starting to take shape. It’s confirmed that Joe will be spending a lot of time in London, and will have to infiltrate a group of London’s high society if he’s to get the attention of the women he’s after. The fact that both women Joe could potentially get involved with (Lady Phoebe and Kate) are both already dating someone else hasn’t stopped Joe from intervening before, but with an inherently suspicious crowd, he will have to work a lot harder to remain undetected. Even though You season 4 just started production, it’s clear from what story details have been released that Joe may have finally bitten off more than he can chew this season.
