While Younger was supposed to focus on Liza’s career, the focus really shifted to her love life. Indeed, the love triangle between her, Josh, and Charles kept viewers glued to their screens for seven seasons to find out who, if either, she might end up with. And while Liza spent much of the series dating either of those two men, she also had breaks in between where she enjoyed the company of other men. Some were fleeting romances, some longer relationships, and others didn’t even make it to the first date, for varying reasons.

Now that the show is finished, and while fans look for another similar series to fill the void, it’s a good time to look back at Liza’s many romances. It’s no surprise that Josh and Charles are at the top when it comes to her love interests, but where do the others fall?

8 Sebastian

Without question, Sebastian falls so far to the bottom of the list, he probably shouldn’t even make it there, for numerous reasons. First, he and Liza only shared a single kiss and some innocent flirtation. With that said, there was mutual interest and it was obvious Liza was starting to feel like she might actually be able to start something with the handsome shepherd who lived off the grid.

But when Liza returned to finalize some paperwork that was missing, she found Sebastian in a compromising position with one of his sheep. It was obvious he was not the man she thought he was, causing her to not only abandon any thoughts of a relationship with him, but also the book contract.

7 David Miller

David had a goofy charm about him – he was the corny dad who truly loved his wife and his daughter and realized he had made mistakes in the past. He gets points for that. However, he also tore apart his family by not only cheating on Liza but risking their livelihood thanks to his gambling problem.

If David showed that he could truly turn himself around and had changed, he might have ranked higher on the list. But while he appeared to be a wonderful father, he was no longer the right man for Liza.

6 Don Ridley

Don Ridley initially seemed like a sweet writer who had just fallen on hard times. Their dine and dash was one of the worst first dates ever on the show even if, true to her personality, Liza, who herself was one of the funniest characters on the show, actually found it funny.

It was also brave when he revealed to her that he was struggling in his career and effectively living off free food and gift bags from press events. But he crossed the line when he wrote a story on Liza after discovering her real age, completely betraying her trust.

5 Diego

There was something interesting about the character of Diego, a mysterious real estate developer who had the same tall, dark, and handsome look as Charles. He strutted around in a three-piece suit and seemed like he could be a real rival to Charles for Liza’s affections.

Indeed, she did get into bed with Diego, although it was revealed before the clothes even went back on that he was actually married. While Liza was all about being wild and carefree, she was not interested in being the other woman in any scenario, especially having been cheated on before.

4 Kai Manning

It was exciting for Liza to spend time in a gorgeous home by the water with a celebrity surfer who seemingly lived life the way he wanted. He inspired her. And while she initially rejected his advances, Liza finally decided to give in and submit to a totally wild and passionate weekend.

He was attractive, fit, full of positive energy, and talented. But it was all too good to be true, as Liza discovered when she found his strange perversions in his old journals. They didn’t include incredible stories from his journeys around the world but rather just a collection of lude doodles chronicling his many sexual escapades.

3 Jay Malick

Up until the end, Jay was completely genuine with Liza. He knew the truth about her and had no desire to blackmail or hurt her or use the information against her. In fact, he even stepped in at a party to save her when she was backed into a corner about her true age. He was aware that she was worried and would easily get stressed out, two of her worst traits, and he did what he could to help her through those moments whenever he was around.

But the chemistry was lacking, and things came to a screeching halt when Jay realized that Liza was still in love with Charles. He did the right and mature thing and let her go, even though he still had feelings for her.

2 Charles Brooks

On paper, Charles made the most sense for Liza. He was closer to her in age than Josh, attractive, talented, and accomplished, and he did many sweet things for her. He ran his own business, was also divorced, and had two children. He knew what he wanted out of life. But most importantly, he had deep feelings and an intense connection to Liza.

The issue was that the lie would always sit between them. Charles was one of the last to know about Liza’s real age. Then, even when he did know, he second-guessed her motives at every turn, even if he desperately tried not to. As they decided in the end, they just weren’t going to make it.

1 Josh

From the beginning, Josh seemed like the perfect marriage rebound, a young, tattooed, and attractive man who loved to party and would make every night fun and exciting. But that only lasts so long. And in reality, Liza was a 40-year-old woman with responsibilities.

But Josh grew season after season. Even before he began to take on more responsibilities, including expanding his business, raising his professional profile, and caring for a child, he showed that he was ready to be there for Liza through anything. He did many sweet things for her throughout the series. While the ending left things up for interpretation, Josh was always the best partner for Liza.
