The Yu-Gi-Oh! anime might be focused on Yugi above all other characters, but Kaiba had an absolute breakout on the show. He’s a fan favorite that is unapologetic, a complete jerk for no reason to everyone he meets, and also a bit of a badass.

He’s an incredible duelist who even gives Yugi a run for his money. While he’s had tons of great moments throughout the anime, he’s also had quite a series of badass scenes. However, the first one was far more mean-spirited than all the others (he hadn’t been mind crushed yet)

10 Beating Solomon Muto

In the first episode of the series, Kaiba finds out that Yugi’s grandpa, Solomon Muto, has the fourth Blue-Eyes White Dragon card, the only one that Kaiba doesn’t have. Despite his protests, Kaiba forces Solomon to duel for the card, and literally sends him to the hospital when he loses. And then, he has the audacity to rip the card in half. He just doesn’t want it to be used against him. Evil, sure, but the confidence needed to pull this off.

9 Helping Yugi Cheat One Time

When Yugi faces off against Kaiba’s banished evil side on Duelist Kingdom (???), he’s up against three Blue-Eyes White Dragons. In order to make sure that Yugi wins this duel, Kaiba hacks into the system and weakens Blue-Eyes White Dragon so that Yugi can attack. Despite the blatant cheating that goes on here, Yugi just sort of rolls with this and lets it happen, and manages to win the duel and move on in the tournament.

8 Doing Anything To Defeat Yugi

When Kaiba is up against Yugi in Duelist Kingdom, it’s clear that he’s going to lose. However, Kaiba is on a mission to save his brother Mokuba from Pegasus, and he’s not going to take no for an answer. As such, he gives Yugi a choice. Feel free to attack, but the blast could knock me off the edge of the castle.

It takes guts to be willing to risk your own life, but Mokuba’s own life was at stake. As such, Kaiba did what he had to in order to make sure his plan could go on uninterrupted.

7 Punishing A Cheater With Obelisk

When Kaiba noticed a cheater in Duelist Kingdom trying to take two rare cards from his opponent instead of one, he knew what he had to do. He dueled the cheater and summoned Obelisk the Tormentor in his first turn in order to absolutely devastate the duelist. Sure, that’s something that a very reasonable person does. Nevertheless, it was about as badass as it gets.

6 Attacking A Man With A Paper Card

When Tea was being held hostage with a crane dangling over her during Yugi and Joey’s duel, the entire crew was watching, trying to see if there was anything that they could do to help. Then, Kaiba literally threw his paper Blue-Eyes White Dragon card at the Rare Hunter holding the controller to make him drop it. And… it worked? Somehow? Yeah, that’s an absolutely iconic method of disarmament.

5 Defying Destiny Against Ishizu

Despite the Millennium Necklace telling Ishizu that she was going to win her duel against Kaiba during the Battle City finals, she lost. And why might that be? Oh, well, isn’t it obvious? Kaiba literally defied his pre-determined destiny and won against all odds.

Ishizu planted a bomb in Obelisk the Tormentor that was set to go off when it attacked, yet Kaiba knew that, against his better judgment, he needed to summon Blue-Eyes White Dragon in order to finish off the duel and defeat Ishizu. Of course, this worked perfectly.

4 Dueling On Top Of A Flying Plane

The second time that Alister and Kaiba faced off in the Waking the Dragons arc of the show, it was literally on top a moving plane. Actually. The Seal of Orichalcos kept them from flying to their deaths, and Kaiba didn’t even seem to be phased by this at all. He just, did what he does best, duel with his dragons, this time on top of a moving plane. Yeah, sure.

3 Wrecking Zigfried And Foiling All Of His Plans

Kaiba and Zigfried’s duel is truly one of the best in the series, and the way Kaiba ended the duel is absolutely badass. He summons five different dragons out of his deck at the same time to hit Zigfried one by one until he has absolutely nothing left. He obliterates the man. And then, every other plan he had set for Kaiba after this duel was easily thrown to the side by the superior millionaire.

2 Summoning Obelisk Through Sheer Force Alone

During his duel with Diva in Dark Side of Dimensions, Kaiba needs Obelisk, it’s his last chance to win. Out of sheer willpower and need, he summons Obelisk to save him and destroy Diva. He doesn’t have the card anymore, but he does it. He summons the monster to serve him once more. Talk about badass.

1 Literally Traveling To The Afterlife

And then, in the same movie, in order to finally get his wish of dueling Atem one last time, Kaiba does something that no one could have expected, as it defies all forms of reason. He travels to the afterlife to face Atem there. The man actually travels to the afterlife for a duel. Is there anyone more badass than Seto Kaiba?
