A modder for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has added several new features to Link’s house in the game. Despite the fact that the game is nearly four years old, players have constantly been discovering new aspects of the beloved open-world title. For instance, one fan found out that, through a memory storage glitch, Link can earn double the amount of spirit orbs. One modder (the same one who modded Link’s house) even discovered an unused shrine and restored it. This indicates that players, with some dedication, can create their very own shrines.

Although a proper sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was announced during Nintendo’s E3 2019 presentation, there has yet to be any new information about it. However, this paucity of information hasn’t stopped purported leakers from discovering details about the game. They’re unlikely true, but one leaker claims that the highly anticipated sequel and the long-awaited Metroid Prime 4 will be headed to the Switch sometime this year.

While fans wait for the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, one modder has added a wealth of new features to Link’s house in the game, as reported by Nintendo Life. The modder, Waikuteru, included a pet cuckoo, a fire to prepare food, and a bed that gives Link temporary extra hearts. Other additions include concept art that adorns the walls, a pond nearby that Link can use to fish for Hylian bass, and a stable to store Link’s horses. Waikuteru’s finishing touch is some extra lighting to give the house more life.

This modder’s additions to Link’s house certainly make it a much more worthy investment. In the base game, Link’s house is simply a place to store some gear and sleep. Frankly, there’s not a whole lot to it. This especially rings true considering how much time and rupees it takes to fully upgrade Link’s home in Hateno Village. It’s another quest to check off the completion goal, but the intrinsic reward itself isn’t all that valuable.

All of this also begs the question of why Nintendo didn’t include these features to begin with. If Link’s house makes a return in the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, hopefully, the folks at Nintendo see this impressive mod and add some of these features. Link’s actual house is fairly lackluster, but Waikuteru’s version is much more fully formed and useful.
