Zombie Army 4: Upgrade System Explained

The only task that players are really presented within Zombie Army 4: Dead War is to kill as many zombies as possible. This task is incredibly fun, and players will become better and more efficient at is as the game goes on. Killing zombies isn’t just a matter of having a lot of ammo and being good at the game though. As Zombie Army 4 becomes more difficult, players will find that their current weapons just aren’t getting the job done.

Getting upgrade kits is the most important part of upgrading weapons, as they are the only way to improve weapons at all. Luckily Zombie Army 4 gives players a lot of ways to gain these kits from finding them or earning them for completing specific challenges. There are actually six ways to earn upgrade kits in the game:

Earn Gold Medals- Gold medals can be earned for every single chapter in the game. The way to do this is to earn as many points as possible while playing. Points are earned by stringing together combos, double kills, and long shots. The first chapter only requires 16,000 points and is therefore very easy to complete. Every gold medal will give players access to one upgrade kit.

Achieving Ranks- Ranks will be achieved as players level up throughout the game. Players should focus on gaining as much experience as possible in order to level up quickly. By obtaining ranks players will occasionally be given an upgrade kit for their trouble.

Complete Mission Challenges- All missions in the game will have specific challenges that players can complete for more experience which can help level up. Additionally, by completing all the challenges for a mission, players will be awarded with an upgrade kit. These challenges are typically centered around killing a certain amount of zombies in specific ways and are not usually too hard to complete.

Acquire All Collectibles- Each mission has a certain amount of collectibles within it, and by collecting these players will obtain upgrade kits as well.

Find Upgrade Kits- The most straightforward way to gain access to upgrade kits is to just find them in each mission. They will be hidden away in different places of the map, so players will just need to seek them out.

Complete Sticker Album Pages- One of the easiest ways to collect upgrade kits in Zombie Army 4 is to complete sticker album pages. These are essentially milestone challenges that players have access to anytime that they are playing. Players should keep these challenges in mind as they are running around because after a certain amount is completed they will be rewarded with an upgrade kit.

Using upgrade kits is an extremely simple concept. Players will just have to track down a workbench during a mission and access it to begin upgrading their weapons. Every weapon in the game can be given some kind of upgrade, and everyone will cost players one kit apiece. Players should save up a few of these kits before attempting some of the more difficult levels.

How Upgrading Works in Zombie Army 4

Weapons in Zombie Army 4 will have several different kinds of upgrades that players can use to help make their zombie-killing as efficient as possible. Upgrades range from increasing ammo capacity, improving scopes and accuracy, and even adding elemental damage to certain weapons. Players can focus on any of these upgrades they like, but there are a few things that players should keep in mind.

First and foremost players should try to focus on one weapon at a time. This ensures that weapons can be upgraded efficiently and players will have an appropriate amount of firepower before entering a mission. If players spread their upgrade kits out to all the weapons they have, then none of their weapons will be very powerful. Players should upgrade their preferred primary and secondary weapons first.

The most important upgrades that players should focus on are any that add elemental damage. These will enable weapons to cause much more damage as well as hurt, multiple enemies, at once. Each weapon has a specific element associated with it so players should understand which element they would prefer before picking a weapon. Pro Tip: Electric damage is one of the most effective in the game. Probably a good idea to focus on weapons with this type of damage.

Weapon capacity is another thing to focus on, specifically for rifles. There is nothing more frustrating for players than having to reload while a horde of zombies is descending upon them. Certain weapons can have their capacity increased significantly in order to stop this from being a major issue.

The best thing to keep in mind though while upgrading is to pick a weapon that the player enjoys using a lot. This will ensure that upgrades are used effectively, and will continue to use said weapon throughout the game. The upside as well is that if players upgrade a weapon completely that weapon will give players the weapon mastery skill. This will give players bonus damage while using the class associated with that weapon.
