With a new season of Apex Legends comes another new character. Each time the game adds in a new legend it manages to shake Apex Legends up in new ways as players must adjust their playstyle to new character abilities. Season Four, for example, brought the robotic assassin Revenant into the mix, who was capable of resurrecting fallen teammates and disable the abilities of enemy combatants.

Season Five of Apex Legends has introduced players to the brand new legend Loba. She is a treasure hunter with teleporting abilities, as well as an ultimate that can summon nearby loot for her and her teammates. Loba has access to some of the more interesting abilities that Apex Legends has seen yet, but many players may not exactly know how to use her properly or fight against her abilities as another character. This guide is here to make sense of Loba and all of the new abilities added to Season Five.

Apex Legends Loba’s Abilities

Like all Legends Loba has a tactical and passive ability as well as an ultimate that slowly charges. Her passive ability is constantly working to the player’s advantage, whereas the tactical ability quickly recharges in between uses. The Ultimate Ability, on the other hand, will take longer to charge, and will most likely only be able to be used a few times per match.

Passive Ability- Eye For Quality: Eye for quality is a perfect ability because it will automatically highlight any nearby epic and legendary pieces of loot. Players will even be able to see this loot through walls if they are within range.

Tactical Ability- Burglar’s Best Friend: Loba can throw the bracelet on her wrist in order to teleport to the location it lands. This can be used to teleport to hard to reach areas. This ability does leave Loba vulnerable for a few seconds before teleporting.

Ultimate Ability- Black Market Boutique: Once Loba activates her Ultimate it will place a device on the ground that can be used to teleport nearby loot of the player’s choosing to their inventory. It has the same range as Eye For Quality, and each player can only grab two items per deployment.

Apex Legends: Tips for Playing as Loba

Once players acquire a firm grasp of Loba’s abilities they will be capable of playing equally as an attack and support character. Eye for Quality is perfect for scoping out loot for teammates and marking on the map to fully kit out the player’s whole team. It is perfect for saving a team precious time when looting, as they can just move towards building with a high amount of loot rather than picking buildings at random.

Burglar’s Best Friend, on the other hand, will be the ability that truly saves the team in tight situations. There are tons of uses for creative players to deploy this ability in combat. Loba can throw her bracelet much higher than she can jump, so that makes the character perfect for acting as a sniper. Just use the ability to instantly climb a building and scope the surrounding area for enemies or other vantage points for the team. If rushed by another team, this ability is great for either avoiding fire or counterattacking. Players could throw their bracelet far away and hide somewhere, or even teleport to an advantageous spot behind or next to enemies. This makes for easy flanking or pinching maneuvers if coordinated with teammates.

Loba’s Ultimate may not be as strong as some other legends like Bangalore or Revenant, but it is an easy way to collect loot without running around an entire area. An excellent way to use this ability is to enter a high loot area and drop it down to find all the best loot very quickly. This even has a great use later in the match if players find themselves pinned down and running low on ammo or medical kits. This will allow the team to quickly stock up on any resources that could be found in the area without having to leave cover.

Apex Legends: How to Fight Against Loba

Players who find themselves having to go up against Loba may find several of her abilities frustrating and difficult to defend against. One of the biggest things to keep in mind right after dropping is that if you see an enemy playing as Loba, then it is probably a good idea to not loot in the same area as them. That character will have the advantage of finding the best loot in the area, so players are likely to lose that fight.

Loba’s Ultimate Ability can actually be used against them. All players can access Loba’s weapon teleporting device whether they are on that player’s team or not. This means that if players happen to run across an enemy Loba’s device they should try to stock up on a couple of things that are missing from their inventory. Additionally, if players are in a high loot area and see an enemy Loba, they should pick up any good loot they can find before their enemy can use their Ultimate and steal all of the epic and legendary gear.

Burglar’s Best Friend is going to cause players the most trouble most likely. Since it is shaping up to be one of the best abilities in the game, that means that players will need to keep an eye out and ensure they don’t get surrounded. If fighting Loba out in the open, they should keep on eye on her at all times. When she throws her bracelet, players will have a few moments to score some free hits before she teleports. Once she is gone, players should get to cover and hope she didn’t appear behind them somewhere. If not she probably teleported up somewhere high to a vantage point, so players should keep their head on a swivel while they try to take down the enemy team.

Apex Legends can be played on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
