Though Astro’s Playroom was initially intended to serve as a tech demo for the PlayStation 5 and its new DualSense controller, players are receiving a fun 3D platformer adventure game with hours of content for free with their new console. Astro’s Playroom is a sort of sequel to the well-liked Astro Bot Rescue Mission. Both games star Astro Bot, a little robot who can spin, jump, punch, and glide. Players control Astro Bot while learning how to use the DualSense controller and travel around worlds meant to be a fantastical depiction of the internal hardware on the PlayStation 5: Cooling Springs, GPU Jungle, Memory Meadow, and SSD Speedway. In addition to platforming, players will need to grab collectibles both in their path and in secret, hidden areas of each level.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

There are three kinds of collectibles in Astro’s Playroom. There are coins, which players can collect in their path or from defeating enemies to use in the gatcha machine at the PlayStation Labo world. There are also jigsaw puzzle pieces and artifacts to find and collect. The jigsaw puzzle pieces are designed after computer microchips and help complete the murals located in the PlayStation Labo world. Players earn several Trophies for completing this collection of 96 pieces. In SSD Speedway, players will find 16 puzzle pieces across the four levels. If they can collect all 16, they will earn the Omega Booster Trophy.

Where to Find All SSD Speedway Puzzle Pieces in Astro’s Playroom

Many of the puzzle pieces in this area can be found by going the opposite direction as the main path. Here’s the location of all 16 puzzle pieces in SSD Speedway.

Turbo Trail

  • At the start of the level, turn around and jump across the platforms behind Astro Bot. Break the glass on the platform and use the bounce pad to reach the puzzle piece.
  • Along the main path of the level, pull on the exposed wires to reveal a DualSense controller. Aim for the ring with the PlayStation symbols on it to the right and glide through to reach the second piece.
  • As players navigate the electrical obstacles in the third hang-glider section, a puzzle piece will appear in their path just before the player reaches the round platform.
  • On the round platform, before tugging the wires to reveal the rocket ship that will end the level, travel down to the left to find a secret path with the final puzzle piece at the end of it.

Caching Caves

  • After the first checkpoint, drop through a gap in the platforms into a hidden alcove.
  • Light the row of dynamite using Astro Bot’s thrusters to open a hidden underground cave containing the next puzzle piece.
  • Following the main path of the level, just before reaching the purple spider webs, head to the platform on the right with all the exposed and active electrical currents to grab the third puzzle piece.
  • Just before the end of the level, after hitting the large button to open the door, go to the right and break the glass on the ground to reveal the final puzzle piece.

Deep Dataspace

  • From the entrance to the level, go left over the rocks to a small platform containing three blue flowers. Use a spin attack to rotate all three flowers and raise the platform to find the puzzle piece beneath.
  • At the start of the level, go left through the purple grass and behind the rock to find the first puzzle piece.
  • Beyond the red PS Move controller, bounce on the pillow-like platform to the other side. Find the puzzle piece in an alcove by the globe.
  • Detonate a dynamite barrel just after a checkpoint. This will open a crater in the rocks to reveal the last puzzle piece.

Orbital Obstacles

  • At the start of the level, travel upward in the space pod to reach an asteroid on the left side. Enter the asteroid for the first puzzle piece.
  • After the next checkpoint, navigate around the electrical obstacles and enter a second asteroid to pick up the second puzzle piece.
  • Follow the path of the level to the room with the electrical obstacles traveling clockwise around a round red panel. The third puzzle piece circles with them and is difficult to grab without dying.
  • Along the level’s main path, where fans blow on Astro Bot from the ceiling, travel as low as possible without getting shocked to grab the final puzzle piece.

There are 68 puzzle pieces between the four major areas of Astro’s Playroom and CPU Plaza. Players will find another 28 in the gatcha machine at the PlayStation Labo world and will need to spend coins to access them.
