Warning! SPOILERS for Young Sheldon season 5, episode 2.

The latest episode of Young Sheldon supports a big theory about Missy (Raegan Revord) on The Big Bang Theory. Aside from Sheldon Cooper, the spin-off prequel also puts focus on his family, building on what’s previously revealed about them in the original series. That includes Sheldon’s twin, Melissa “Missy” Cooper, who was once a potential romantic partner for both Howard (Simon Helberg) and Raj (Kunal Nayyar).

After Mary (Laurie Metcalf) visited Sheldon in Pasadena, Missy was the second member of the Cooper family to appear on The Big Bang Theory. While the socially-inept genius previously mentioned having a twin, his friends were surprised to realize that she wasn’t anything like her brother. The show continued to reference her, but after her first appearance, she didn’t return to California until Sheldon’s wedding to Amy (Mayim Bialik) in The Big Bang Theory season 11. Despite that, fans continued to learn about her thanks to Sheldon’s stories.

Apparently, Missy got separated from her first husband, with whom she shared kids. Considering the fact that she was still based in Texas during the events of The Big Bang Theory, it’s safe to assume that she married someone wh0 was also from the same state. However, some fans are convinced that Missy didn’t have to look very far to find her first husband as it could very well be Billy (Wyatt McClure) – the son of Brenda Sparks (Melissa Peterman). This theory has been going on for a while now, and Young Sheldon season 5, episode 11,”A Lock-In, a Weather Girl and a Disgusting Habit” appears to support it. During the lock-in sleepover at Mary’s (Zoe Perry) church, Missy and Billy sat down together to watch a film. Granted that Youth Pastor Rob (Dan Byrd) was also there, but it’s interesting that Missy chose to hang out with him rather than all the other kids at the gathering.

It’s been previously established that Billy is already attracted to Missy. Earlier in Young Sheldon season 5, he sought out George (Lance Barber) to ask his permission to go after his only daughter. Given the Cooper patriarch’s soft spot for Brenda’s son, he allowed it. However, the decision ultimately backfired after Missy got mad at her father since she had to turn down Billy in front of the school which was embarrassed by. While there isn’t anything going on between Billy and Missy now, it doesn’t mean that nothing will happen to them moving forward. For what it’s worth, despite Billy’s lack of smarts, he’s genuinely a good kid. Billy’s good-natured demeanor creates a The Big Bang Theory plot hole, as Sheldon claimed he was one of his childhood bullies. This increases the likelihood that Missy eventually starts reciprocating his feelings.

Unfortunately, even if Missy and Billy end up being married toward the latter part of Young Sheldon, they will eventually break up based on what’s been said on The Big Bang Theory. Despite Missy’s failed first marriage, adult Sheldon’s narration in Young Sheldon has confirmed that she’ll re-marry and finally find happiness in her personal life. Hopefully, future seasons of the ongoing sitcom reveal more about what ultimately happened to her, and who her second husband is.
