Community: 10 Relationships That Should Have Happened (But Didn’t)

When looking back at Community, it was quite clear that this series focused primarily on friendship. This was especially the case when it came to the study group, as they would become far closer as each season passed. However, relationships were not always a common theme. Sure, the characters did have them, but they really were not focused on as frequently as many other series. In fact, this was where the show missed some potential storylines, as there were a plethora of characters who could have actually worked as couples.

Now, that is not to say that the series was bad for neglecting this. It was stupendous with its comedy and originality. Yet, even with this being so, it is hard for fans not to think about the what-ifs when it comes to these potential relationships. It could have provided a lot of intriguing content, to say the least, which definitely would have been appreciated.

10 Jeff And Britta

Although these two would constantly find their ways back to one another, they would never develop a full-on relationship. However, Britta did profess her love for him in front of the school. They also were briefly engaged to one another too.

However, they were never in a committed relationship with each other. It would have made a lot of sense if it had developed into one in the first or second season, as there was a clear connection between these two.

9 Annie And Troy

Annie had a major crush on Troy in high school, but he barely knew that she existed. However, Troy would eventually pursue her, but Annie’s feelings seemed to have subsided. Thus, it was just poor timing for them.

The idea of them getting together would have made a lot of sense in earlier seasons. They were both the same age and had fun personalities. Although they would find love elsewhere, these two could have been a great match in different circumstances.

8 Chang And Shirley

Chang and Shirley would have a night of romance together, but it would end just there. The idea of them dating would have been hilarious for the show, but also nice because it would have kept her away from Andre.

These two would have been an intriguing pair for sure, but it also had the potential to be quite messy. Chang was very unstable during the time period in which they hooked up. Nonetheless, it certainly would have been extremely funny to see this come to fruition.

7 Pierce And Dr. Escodera

Pierce would end up saving the class from having to retake Spanish by hooking up with Dr. Escodera. Honestly, this was a good move from him, but it could have been even better if the show had explored this potential romance further.

Pierce certainly was a character who felt lonely, as he often was the odd man out of the group. Sure, that was mostly his fault because of his off-putting personality, but having him be with somebody for a substantial amount of time would have been good.

6 Abed And Carol

Although Carol was hired by Britta to spoil Abed’s book for him, they did seem to have a connection. It’s hard to say for certain if it was genuine, but it was so nice to see these two interact with each other in their short time.

Carol was definitely a character who could have been utilized more if given the chance. Abed deserved a long-term partner after Rachel suddenly disappeared, and Carol would have been a spectacular choice. She simply seemed to understand him better than most.

5 Jeff And Frankie

Frankie may have been attracted to Jeff, as she openly stated she wanted to push Annie away from him. That does not necessarily mean it was for certain, but the idea of these two getting together did make a lot of sense.

They were similar in age, while also being significant parts of Greendale’s staff. In terms of personality, they also did seem to mesh quite well. Thus, the notion of these two getting together was not too far-fetched at the end of the day.

4 Garrett And Vicki

Although Garrett would end up finding love with his cousin, the prospect of him and Vicki having a relationship was intriguing too. Although this would not end up happening, these two side characters definitely would have made sense.

They were both rather strange, with Garrett of course fitting that description more. Also, they were seen hanging around each other fairly often in the background. Although Vicki with Neil also made sense, it could have been a fun experiment to pair these two.

3 Professor Duncan And Professor Slater

After her relationship failed with Jeff, Professor Slater was never seen again. However, it would have been cool to keep her on the show, as she did have a lot of qualities that made her character enjoyable to watch.

An intriguing idea for a relationship would have been her and Professor Duncan, as he did show a lot of interest in her. It likely would have failed pretty quickly, but it still would have been comedy gold if it occurred.

2 Britta And Star-Burns

Britta seemed to always date weird guys in her past, so it was shocking to see her and Star-Burns never become a couple. He was quite a strange man, as evidenced by his facial hair choices. Nonetheless, his sideburns were still very spicy, to say the least.

Britta was a weird character in her own right, so these two could have been a very interesting couple. Her exes outside of the group have all been pretty similar to Star-Burns in that regard, so it’s surprising they did not connect.

1 Jeff And Annie

Jeff and Annie had deep feelings for each other and did show them from time to time. However, they never were in an official relationship, which was a bit disappointing. Thankfully though, fans were able to see them get their last kiss during the finale.

Aside from their age difference, these two were immensely compatible. Jeff was in love with her and she honestly did help him become a better person. Perhaps if a movie comes out, these two will finally take that next step into becoming a couple.
