Weapons and armor from Trials of Osiris have more options for customization than regular gear in Destiny 2While all pieces of Trials of Osiris gear can still make use of Destiny 2’s shaders, there are hidden color configurations for every weapon and armor piece – and even for some Exotic Weapon Ornaments.

Shaders are one of the key pieces to Destiny 2’s massive customization system. Players can unlock different shaders by dismantling certain weapons, purchasing the available shaders with Glimmer in the Eververse, or completing a number of Triumphs. Further changes to Destiny 2‘s Transmog system in Season of the Lost made these customization options feel even more user-friendly, as players can customize the appearance of one piece of gear with that of another. Additionally, record numbers of Trials of Osiris players reached Flawless during its first weekend release in Season of the Lost. Those who earned weapons and armor may not realize that they have more customization options than normal.

Trials of Osiris players who have reached Flawless receive a number of awards, like adept weapons, pinnacle gear, and some Trials of Osiris banners. Trials of Osiris weapons have a unique gold and black pattern associated with those pieces of gear only, but unique Trials of Osiris shaders can be earned randomly on some weapons and armor. Called “Cobalt Clash,” this greenish-blue and red shader cannot be earned by dismantling weapons. Only weapons and armor that have this shader equipped when earned will have it, so players should be sure not to dismantle the gear.

How to Customize Trials of Osiris Gear in Destiny 2

Additionally, the different Trials of Osiris banners affect the color combination of Trials weapons and armor. One banner will turn the weapons black and blue, another black and red, and removing these banners or using any other will leave the gear the classic gold and black. Additionally, this benefit impacts the Trials of Osiris weapon ornaments that are available in the Eververse store. While they do have to be paid for, these three weapon ornaments are the only Exotic weapon pieces that can have their colors changed in Destiny 2.

The Ace of Spades Hand Cannon, Outbreak Perfected Pulse Rifle, and The Colony Grenade Launcher are the only Exotic weapons in Destiny 2 that have Trials of Osiris weapon ornaments. The weapon ornaments are all available in the Eververse for Silver, so they’re locked behind a paywall. However, like all other Trials of Osiris gear in Destiny 2, the color of these three weapon ornaments is impacted by the Trials of Osiris banner that the player has equipped.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, and Google Stadia platforms.
