Hart Of Dixie Season 1 Finale Recap

Here’s what went down in the Hart Of Dixie season 1 finale. The CW’s cutesy comedy-drama Hart Of Dixie premiered its first season in 2011 and introduced its main protagonist, Dr Zoe Hart. Played by Rachel Bilson, Zoe is an aspiring New York City heart surgeon who fails to get a spot on a prestigious fellowship program and moves to the small Alabama town of Bluebell where she has inherited half a medical practice from the biological father that she never knew.

Much of Hart Of Dixie season 1 focused on Zoe’s attempts to ingratiate herself with the quirky residents of her new adopted hometown, many of whom were wary of welcoming the big city out-of-towner into the fold. Zoe’s romantic relationships were also a major theme, as she wrestled with feelings for her neighbor Wade (Wilson Bethel) and local lawyer George (Scott Porter) – the latter of whom was engaged to Bluebell’s resident mean girl Lemon (Jaime King).

In Hart Of Dixie’s season 1 finale, it was the day of George and Lemon’s wedding. Befittingly titled “The Big Day” the episode saw a big storm hit Bluebell which threatened to cancel George and Lemon’s upcoming nuptials. After inferring that George still had feelings for her, Zoe also had plans to interrupt their wedding with an “I object” until Bluebell’s mayor Lavon (Cress Williams) convinced her to take his car get out of town for the day.

Zoe’s day trip was interrupted when Lavon asked her to pick up a stranded Wade whose car had broken down. After the storm forced the pair off the road, they took shelter in a barn with a herd of goats. Though things were initially frosty between Zoe and Wade thanks to their squabbles in earlier episodes, the pair were soon working together to help save an escaped baby goat and shared a kiss (with each other, not the goat) before a cop showed up to take them home to Bluebell.

Meanwhile, George scrambled to make sure his wedding went ahead but eventually called things off with Lemon after realizing he still had a thing for Zoe. Unfortunately for George, Zoe and Wade had finally consummated their feelings for each other so when he turned up to Zoe’s house to confess he’d called off the wedding and kissed her, she was left pretty confused. Hart Of Dixie viewers would have to wait until the season 2 premiere, however, to find out whether Zoe would choose Wade or George.
