Pokemon: Sword & Shield is the first mainline Pokemon title that does not have every Pokemon programmed into the game. Usually, players are able to transfer over Pokemon from previous generations to newer ones but this was the first time only a limited amount of Pokemon were allowed to enter the region. This was met with plenty of backlash since players are very sentimental about the Pokemon that have had for decades now. Game Freak has tried to remedy this by allowing over 200 Pokemon into the game again through free DLC. Although, some favorites are still left out. Regardless, Altaria is one of the Pokemon that made the cut. Here’s where players can find and capture Altaria in Pokemon: Crown Tundra DLC.

How To Find Altaria in the Pokemon: Crown Tundra DLC

Fortunately, finding an Altaria is super simple in the Crown Tundra. The moment the player arrives in the Crown Tundra, there will be a patch of grass to the left where Swablu, the previous evolution of Altaria, will spawn. Depending on if the player has already beaten the game or not, the Swablu will be at an extremely high level. Capture it and level it up once and it will evolve into Altaria. It normally evolves at level 35 but since Swablu will be around level 60, the player just needs to use a rare candy or train it one level for it to evolve.

Since the Pokemon: Sword & Shield expansion pass has been completed, it is unlikely that more major DLC will release in the future. Game Freak will likely move forward towards the next major title or a remake of a previous generation. Players have been hammering for a remake of the fourth generation titles, Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. Regardless, DLC has been favorable towards funs and will hopefully be the new standard for releasing new content in the future.
