Mudkip is one of the 9 Pokemon required to complete the Hoenn Collection challenge in Pokemon Go. This guide will show players how they can find and capture it. Pokemon Go is celebrating its 5th anniversary as well as the 25th anniversary of the Pokemon series as a whole this year. There is tons of content for players to be excited about. It’s only January and Pokemon Go has been stacked with new content every week. The newest collection challenge takes place in the Hoenn region, requiring the player to capture 9 specific Pokemon from that region. Amongst these are the starter Pokemon. Here is what players can do to increase their chances of finding a Mudkip for the Hoenn Collection.

This is the third collection challenge to happen in Pokemon Go so far. The first two took place with Unova and Sinnoh Pokemon. The Sinnoh Collection event has been the hardest of the bunch since it required players to capture a specific set of Shadow Pokemon. These Pokemon can only be captured after defeating the proper Team Rocket Grunt. While capturing them isn’t the hard part, it was locating the right Grunt with the Pokemon needed for that challenge that proved to be difficult. Fortunately, the Hoenn Collection challenge only requires the player to find the Pokemon out in the wild. Here is how players can find Mudkip for this challenge.

How To Find (& Catch) Mudkip in Pokemon Go (Hoenn Challenge)

There are a few ways to increase the chances of running into a Mudkip in Pokemon Go.

• Wandering in the wild: Since the spawns of Hoenn Pokemon are increased for this week, it is fairly likely the player will encounter Mudkip while randomly walking around.
• Using an Incense: This item costs 40 PokeCoins in the shop and will increase the spawn rate of all Pokemon for an hour. This is a great way to encounter all the Pokemon needed for this collection challenge.
• Using a Lure: Placing a Lure on a PokeStop will increase the chances of finding Mudkip.
• Completing Field Research: Finishing the “Catch 3 Weather-Boosted Pokemon” challenge will reward the player with a Treecko, Mudkip, or Torchic encounter.

The best thing to do would be to use an Incense. Not only will players be able to find Mudkip, but they can also play from the safety of their home and also find the other Pokemon they may need for this challenge. While the starters are fairly simple to encounter, Pokemon like Bagon and Nincada might make it a bit more difficult to complete the challenge. Make sure to complete this challenge before the end of the week to collect that exclusive medal.
