How to Unlock the Comic Book Tracer Skin in Overwatch

A new Overwatch comic featuring Tracer was just released, and to celebrate, players can participate in a special challenge and unlock a new epic-ranked comic-book-themed skin for the ex-pilot. Tracer has been largely considered the most iconic character in Overwatch, and she has been a fan favorite since the game released back in 2016. The new comic, produced by Dark Horse Comics, showcases Tracer’s life back in London following the Omnic crisis. To celebrate the release of this graphic novel, Blizzard is hosting a two-week comic event where players can earn the new epic skin, along with some other Tracer- and comic-themed goodies.

The challenge event takes place from September 15th, 2020 to September 28th, 2020, so players looking to unlock the skin will want to complete this as soon as they can. The challenges consist of playing and winning a few games and watching streams for several hours via Twitch. Here’s how to unlock the Comic Tracer skin in Overwatch.

To complete the challenge and unlock the Comic Tracer skin, players will need to win nine different games of Overwatch. These can be in Quick Play, Arcade, or Competitive mode, and players can mix and match game modes and still complete the challenge.

After three wins, the player will earn a Comic Tracer player icon. After six wins, they will earn a spray exclusive to Tracer. Finally, at nine wins, they will unlock the epic Comic Tracer skin. This skin features various comic book sound effects and panels from the published graphic novel.

Players can earn a few other rewards for watching Overwatch streams on Twitch. They will first need to link their Battle.net account to their Twitch account for the challenge to register. Players can find spotlighted Overwatch streamers on the official social media accounts and website for the game.

If players watch two hours of streams, they will earn another exclusive challenge spray. If they watch four hours, they’ll earn a second and third exclusive challenge spray. And, after watching six hours, they’ll earn all six challenge sprays. Each spray contains a comic book sound effect bubble, and because these can only be equipped by Tracer, she will speak the sound effect out loud when the spray is used. The options are:

• “Bang!”
• “Blink!”
• “Pew! Pew!”
• “Pow!”
• “Whack!”
• “Zap!”

“Pew! Pew!” makes sense in particular given Tracer’s preference for pulse pistols.

Players should note these special challenge rewards are granted in addition to whatever they win, particularly in Arcade mode, so it may be best to compete there to double the rewards earned during the two weeks the challenge is taking place.

Overwatch is available for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
