Fans of The Office are begging star Craig Robinson to stop the beloved comedy from leaving Netflix. Premiering in 2005 on NBC, The Office is based on the U.K series of the same name and focuses on the employees of Dunder Mifflin, a regional paper company. Through a mockumentary format, The Office explores the dysfunctional relationships and day to day workings of the Scranton branch. It ran for a total of nine seasons and even now, seven years after it went off the air, it is finding new fans everywhere thanks to streaming.

For years now, the entirety of The Office has been available on Netflix for fans’ viewing pleasure. The Office has consistently remained one of the most popular shows on the platform, with Nielsen’s weekly ratings often including the series among its top ten. However, The Office‘s time on Netflix will come to an end in just two weeks, when it leaves the service and switches to NBCUniversal’s own Peacock in January. To say fans are devastated by this might be an understatement, seeing as many have sought out one of the show’s stars to help prevent this.

Robinson, who played warehouse foreman-turned-office employee Daryl Philbin through much of The Office, joined Late Night with Seth Meyers on Tuesday and discussed the show’s impending streaming move. Evidently, fans have been contacting Robinson on social media in a desperate attempt to get him to stop The Office from leaving Netflix. “There’s one person on Instagram that keeps contacting me saying, ‘Please don’t let them take The Office off of Netflix’,” Robinson explained. Robinson admitted he hasn’t responded back, as “I kind of like them thinking I have that power.” However, fans will now know the truth: “I don’t have anything to do with that. Peacock is getting it,” he said.

Earlier this week, Peacock unveiled their full plans for how they will welcome The Office into their ranks, which includes curated playlists, an ambient office noise channel, and extended episodes with new content. Disappointingly, however, only the first two seasons will be available for free. Those who wish to watch seasons 3 through 9 of The Office will have to sign up for Peacock Premium.

It isn’t too surprising that fans are disappointed The Office is leaving Netflix. Odds are, more people are currently subscribed to Netflix than those who have signed up for Peacock, which has yet to offer anything particularly noteworthy. Furthermore, it seems unlikely many will be willing to pay for Peacock Premium just to watch The Office. Of course, the addition of the series could lead to a subscription boom for Peacock, but right now, the change is only a sad fact for those who have spent years watching it on Netflix. Going to Robinson feels like an innovative idea, but one that unfortunately isn’t going to pan out. Fans might be better served by spending these next two weeks watching The Office on Netflix before it’s gone.
