A star-studded line-up is expected to be in attendance for this week’s theatrical premiere of Reign of the Supermen – the latest Superman comic to be adapted into an animated feature film. The highly-anticipated movie will be screened for the first time on Thursday, January 10, at The Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills, California.

Reign of the Supermen is the second of two animated films based on the classic “Death of Superman” storyline, which was originally published by DC Comics in 1993. The first film, The Death of Superman, was released in the summer of 2018 to great acclaim and detailed Superman’s battle with the monster dubbed Doomsday, sacrificing his life to kill the monster and save the world. The follow-up, Reign of the Supermen, will detail the rise of four new heroes in the wake of Superman’s absence, as the people of Metropolis try to get used to the idea of a world with out a Superman.

Warner Bros. has released a brand new promotional clip from Reign of the Supermen, which can be viewed below. The clip offers the first glimpse of The Eradicator – a hero who is the spitting image of Superman, but lacks his kind heart and had no qualms about utilizing lethal force. The Eradicator also has an power Superman never had – the ability to release focused blasts of energy from his hands.

Many of the film’s stars are confirmed as attending the film’s theatrical premiere. Jerry O’Connell, who found stardom early in his career as one of the leads of Stand By Me and can currently be seen in the crime drama Carter, provides the voice of Superman and Clark Kent. He will be joined by Batman voice actor Jason O’Mara (The Man In The High Castle), Cyborg Superman voice actor Patrick Fabian (Better Call Saul), Darkseid voice actor Tony Todd (Candyman), the voice of The Eradicator Charles Halford (Constantine),and Cat Grant voice actor Toks Olagundoye (Castle). Director Sam Liu, Screenwriters Jim Krieg and Tim Sheridan, Executive Producer James Tucker, and Character Designer Phil Bourassa will also be in attendance.

Thankfully, those Superman fans not attending the premiere will not have long to wait to see Reign of the Supermen for themselves. Fathom Events is hosting double-features of The Death of Superman and Reign of the Supermen on January 13 and 14 in some movie theaters. The movie will be available for digital download on Tuesday, January 15 and will be released on BluRay and DVD two weeks later on January 29.
