Sister Wives: Why Kody Brown Shouldn’t Be Blamed For Everything

Sister Wives star Kody Brown attracts family drama no matter which house he resides in, but is he always to blame? Throughout the years, fans have seen Kody go from a laid-back, cool dad to a tightly wound shell of a man. While most of the drama has been caused by his own hand, some loyal supporters are starting to question if Kody may not just be the family scapegoat.

Since Sister Wives first premiered, Kody, who may be jealous of Meri, has done his best to put the topic of polygamy front row and center. This aspect of Mormonism is not often discussed in the US and is still a hot-button topic. During an earlier season, Kody took his entire family to Salt Lake City to protest the oppression. While he didn’t win the case at the time, Kody and his family paved the way for others to be open with their lives. Since moving to Flagstaff, Kody has lost a sense of himself and turned into one crabby husband. While most followers feel he is the root of most issues, some feel Kody is an easy target and could be a victim himself.

Kody is often portrayed as the main problem within his polygamous family. As a dad of 18, there are bound to be some issues. Fans will recall that Kody was young when he decided that the polygamous lifestyle was the one for him. Kody has often talked about the church, and many feel he could have been brainwashed into believing polygamy was God’s will. It was only after the recent season that Kody shared he was disheartened with his polygamous lifestyle, noting it may not be for him anymore. Kody could quite easily be having a crisis of faith which has caused him to act out in a negative way.

Many would assume that since Kody is the husband and head of the household, he has all the say, but episodes often showed him losing out to his four wives. While he has won some major battles like Coyote Pass and the strict rules for COVID-19, he has lost in other ways. Numerous older children of Kody’s have spoken out against their father, which has caused a rift in the family. This could only make the star feel unhappy since he has lost the strong connections he once had with them. For the most part, Kody always seems to want to do the right thing but more often than not, he is steamrolled into a reckless decision.

While it is obvious that Kody will never be a fan favorite on Sister Wives, it may be time to cut the man some slack. Kody is only human, after all, and can’t carry the weight of the world on his soldiers. Each wife (Meri, Janelle, Christine, and Robyn) has played a part in helping Kody become the victim, and it may be time for them to take on some of the responsibility too.
