The best Electric-type Pokémon are great to add to any competitive team in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl for their unique strengths. Electric-type Pokémon are among the most popular Pokémon for players in any game, thanks to Pokémon‘s main mascot, Pikachu. Like Pikachu, several pure Electric-type Pokémon are actually great competitive choices, and a few others have unique dual-types perfect for most teams.

Electric-type Pokémon are great competitive choices because of their weakness, resistances, and the types of Pokémon that they can overpower easily. Electric-type Pokémon will receive 2x damage from Ground-type Pokémon moves only, and their Electric-type attacks do nothing against Ground-type Pokémon. Electric-type Pokémon moves only inflict half damage to Dragon-type Pokémon in BDSP as well as Grass and other Electric-types. However, Flying and Steel-types only inflict half damage to Electric-type Pokémon, and Electric-types themselves inflict 2x damage to Water and Flying-type Pokémon.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

The best Electric-type Pokémon in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are Electivire, Jolteon, Rotom-Wash, and Magnezone. Magnezone is the easiest Pokémon to acquire of the four, as players can catch a Magnemite early on in the Grand Underground. Trainers can evolve it into Magneton and level up in Mt. Coronet to further evolve it into Magnezone. Electivire can be found as an Elekid only in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond, and it has to be traded holding the Electirizer as an Electabuzz to evolve into Electivire. Jolteon evolves from Eevee using a Thunder Stone that can be found in the Grand Underground mines. Players can get Eevee in Pokémon BDSP after receiving the National Dex and speaking with Bebe in Hearthome City. Rotom can be found in the Old Chateau after receiving the National Dex and changing into its Wash-form using the appliances located in the Team Galactic building in Eterna City.

Best Competitive Electric-Type Pokémon In Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl

One of the reasons why Electivire and Jolteon are great competitive choices is because of their abilities. Electivire’s Motor Drive allows it to absorb Electric-type moves from opponents and increase its Speed. At the same time, Jolteon’s Volt Absorb gives it the ability to covert opponents’ Electric-type attacks into recovered HP. Additionally, these Pokémon have excellent movepools that provide a lot of coverage in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Rotom-Wash is another excellent choice because of its movepool and ability as well, and it’s one of the best competitive Pokémon available in BDSP. Rotom’s Levitate ability makes it immune to Ground-type attacks, and being a dual Electric and Water-type means it gains additional resistances. Magnezone’s Magnet Rise move allows it to levitate for five turns, making it immune to common moves like Earthquake. Additionally, the Magnet Pull ability prevents other Steel-type Pokémon from switching out, allowing Magnezone to use Hidden Power Fire to do quick work of fellow Steel-types
