The film, which stars an insane list of A-list talent from Julia Roberts and Bradly Cooper to Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner, follows these related characters as they celebrate and avoid Valentine’s Day. Though the film was poorly reviewed by critics, it became the highest-grossing rom-com of 2010 and is the second-biggest opening for a rom-com ever.

9 Just Go With It (2011)

No stranger to romantic comedies, Adam Sandler starred opposite of Jennifer Aniston, Nicole Kidman, and Brooklyn Decker for the 2011 film Just  Go With It. Released in February of 2011, the film capitalized on Valentine’s Day and went on to earn $215 million at the domestic box office.

This time around, Sandler plays a man who had been left at the alter in his youth who know uses his wedding ring to convince other women to sleep with him. However, things take a turn when he meets “the one,” and she wants to meet his ex-wife and family.

8 Silver Linings Playbook (2012)

Though Silver Linings Playbook might have drama elements, at its heart it’s still a romantic comedy. In fact, its the highest-grossing romantic comedy of 2012 with a domestic box office of $132 million.

The film follows Pat (Bradley Cooper) who moves in with his parents after getting divorced and being discharged from a mental institution. Pat ends up befriending Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence) who wants to help him. The film was a box office and critical hit, earning eight Academy Award nominations.

7 Warm Bodies (2013)

The romantic comedy genre got a much-needed shakeup when Warm Bodies hit theaters in 2013. The paranormal zombie rom-com earned an impressive $117 million at the box office during its release.

The film, which was based on Issac Marion’s novel, which was inspired by Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, follows Julie (Teresa Palmer) as she tries to survive in a post-apocalyptic world while also falling for R (Nicholas Hoult), a zombie. 6 The Other Woman (2014)

With a cast that includes Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann, and Kate Upton, it’s no surprise that The Other Woman was a hit in 2014. The romantic comedy was released in April in the US went on to make $83.9 million at the domestic box office.

The Other Woman follows the lives of three women who all find out that they are in a relationship with the same man. Fed up with his lies, the three decide to seek revenge on Mark (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau).

5 Trainwreck (2015)

In 2015, comedian Amy Schumer stepped away from the stand-up world to star in the romantic comedy Trainwreck, which she also penned. The raunchy comedy became a critical and box office success earning $110.2 million at the domestic box office.

With a star-studded cast that included Dakota Johnson and Rebel Wilson, the film follows the ensemble cast as they grabble with their various relationships status and fall in and out of love. Despite being the highest-grossing rom-com of the year, the film actually underperformed at the box office.

3 The Big Sick (2017)

Inspired by Kumail Nanjiani and Emily V. Gordon’s real-life relationship, The Big Sick became the highest-grossing romantic comedy in 2017. The heartfelt romantic comedy earned $42.8 million at the domestic box office.

The film follows the fictional Kumail and Emily as their relationship is put to the test due to their cultural differences and Emily’s mystery illness. The film also became one of the highest-grossing independent films of the year. In addition, it was nominated for Best Original Screenplay at the Academy Awards.

2 Crazy Rich Asians (2018)

2018 saw the romantic comedy start to make strides with diversity, especially when Crazy Rich Asians hit theaters. The film, which was inspired by a novel of the same name, went on to make $174.5 million at the domestic box office.

Rounding out the highest-grossing romantic comedies of the 2010s is the 2019 film Isn’t It Romantic. The Rebel Wilson lead rom-com earned $48.7 million at the domestic box office during its release.

The film followed Natalie (Wilson) who gets knocked unconscious and wakes up to find she’s living in an alternate universe that operates like a cheesy teenage romantic comedy. Though reviews were mixed, many critics and fans loved Wilson’s performance and found the film”s ability to comment on rom-com tropes to be entertaining.
